We have purchased a TotalCool 3000, unboxing and what do we think?

This is our introduction to the TotalCool 3000 portable evaporative cooler.
An unboxing and first try in our house, so far a success.
We'll follow this up with a short in the caravan when we are away next!

Anything for the leisure industry, multi voltage etc. carries premium prices, also the fact that this is manufactured and sourced in the UK (only some electronic parts sourced outside UK) must surely be a good thing, ethically?. Hi. Sorry for the delay. I’d say that it would be okay, it’s definitely a personal cooler rather than something that’ll cool your whole van. I can only imagine in your van that it may not be enough as it must get really hot inside. Hope that helps. Andy.

Hi Paul. I can say it’s good as a personal cooler, do I think it’s worth the £300 + price tag? That’s a question I’d have to answer honestly and say it’s overpriced for what you get. It’s flexible as you can run direct from 12v or 240v, lightweight so great for us caravaners. Unfortunately anything that is for ‘leisure vehicle’ use can be expensive. If you want cold cold air maybe invest in an aircon unit, but that eats into payloads. Depends upon your use and circumstance. Let us know if you have any more questions. Andy and Kim

How can it cool anymore than a fan without ice exactly? Is it magic?

Thanks for the question, unfortunately not magic! 😞 The water soaked filter removes heat but does increase moisture in the atmosphere. You can put ice in the container which does mean cooler air. If you search for ‘what is evaporative air cooling’ there are a few references and better explanations than I could give. These are also known as swamp coolers (I think!) Have a great weekend. Andy.

It's over priced for a fancy fan... for that price it should be compressor operated

You are correct, although we didn't pay the full price, still a lot for a box with a fan. It does cool, but only really as a personal cooler and can make the air smell a bit nicer with the scents for the water. Thanks for commenting and watching, love all interaction thank you. Andy and Kim.

Purchased one of these and tested in small camper. Not worth a toss. Totalcool is Totalwaste of money, Totalbollocks.
