A birth certificate or passport are no longer accurate records if sex can be recorded differently to a persons actual biological/natal sex. They should not be altered, the addition of a category for recording "gender if desired" is what we should be doing.

Gender is the same as sex. Male / female. It is "gender identity" which has been introduced to the vocabulary, which signifies a behaviour, not a physical state. "Gender identity" data must be optional otherwise the concept would be forced on everyone.

@@H-youtube7 Indeedy, the notion of gender identity is nonsensical to me, back in the good old days sex and gender were two words for one thing, now language has been distorted and meaning is being lost.

since sex cannot be changed, and matters, no official document should state the wrong sex - and certainly not the birth certificate! That at least should always be biologically correct so it can be used for verification if necessary. If people claim gender identities, that can be added as a separate category.
