Next time you have to take the pigs anywhere in the trailer freeze a couple of gallon jugs of water or get a bag of ice for each way. The pigs will cuddle up to them to keep from over heating. Glad Pearl is doing better 💜 🐽

yeah you can lay'em up in a pile of hay it will help with keeping the spot cool for the pigs and help slow the melting of the ice a bit ...probably not a lot but some...

When you get to putting the plates on for switches an receptacles put the circuit breaker number on the back of the plates, so you know which one to turn off, if working on that circuit.

Just a couple of little suggestions while you are doing your electricity, a ceiling fan on your porch. I think you all like sitting out on your porch. The second suggestion is to put an outlet in all four sides of your house outside. You will be kicking yourself later, I think, if you don’t. Two sides is not enough.

Now would be a good time to install blocking for cabinets and TVs to mount too. Run a 2x6 between studs so the TV mount can grab hold of something solid. Same for kitchen/bathroom cabinets. Looks great!

You are so right about the humidity and Heat I live in South Texas we're having a bad drought no rain for months. Hey is very scarce here and the temperature yesterday and today was 105 and 106 with a heat index of 112. I have an old farmhouse with 100 years old we don't use air conditioning or heat, winter is one thing but summer is a bear! Your right is too hot to get out and do anything

when we built our house we insulated the interior walls as well as the exterior ones. my husband was working shift at the time who am I kidding he worked shift work his whole career anyway it sound proofed the house so he could sleep and made a big difference I think in our natural gas bills without central air it stayed cool in the summer and warm in the winter (with a forced air furnace). I will preface this by saying that we live in Alberta Canada and the temperatures in the summer were 72 to 86F on average and in the winter 28 to -40F. with a natural gas water heater and about $2 a gigajoule gas we were paying about $20/month. The house we are in now we didn't build and our first month in here was over $200 I about had a heart attack. love your channel keep on doing what you're doing. Great way to bring up your family. God bless, stay safe

Dutch with enough portable battery generators and solar configurations if you wanted to run lights outside for Christmas you could use those solutions for the lights. I suspect that at some point someone will make a "Christmas Solar Lights Kit. I am glad that Pearl is doing better. I haven't been able to keep up with all my channels because of my mother. It might be good idea to run more outside lights and outlets. I'm thinking flood lights, and security reasons. Especially with animals getting out and wild animals running thru the property. And no area lights to help in emergency. G-D Bless

Be sure to add outlets to the outside under the soffits so if you want to put Christmas lights out you can hook them up outside and then put a couple at the bottom to her if you need to plug into something you can. You may have already done this. But I know whenever we built our house we didn't put enough under the sofa it's the only put one and that wasn't enough. I love watching your show and seeing the kids in the pigs and the peacocks.

Hi, that weed wacker is good, but it needs to be kept at ground level as you did and it worked well, I not going to say anything, but “somebody” had it to high and it was missing everything. I was surprised about your brakers, here in the UK we always work on 240 volts but, our fuses are 10 volts for lights and 15 volts for plugs with 20 volts for showers and cookers. You have put a plug socket up for a TV, but you need to put some wood up so that the TV is well supported. I think you said about needing nailer covers when an electric cable is run through a joist to stop any danger of putting a nail though the cable when hanging drywall, I have made that mistake in the past and spent ages trying to find the problem.

The weed eater is cool but maybe you can make a modification to it by adding a wheel to the neck going Infront of the string length to keep from having to tilt up and down so much and it would roll across yard a little bit easier.

I live in FL where the weather seems very familiar right now. Make sure you stay hydrated. On that new weed eater, can you pull start it while it's resting on the ground or do you need to lift the front end a little? I can't wait to see your solar hooked up. Your 5 reasons to go off grid/ to not go off grid would be a cool video. Oh and definitely run the 220 for the dryer also. If fuel ⛽ prices keep climbing you might have to go on grid in self defense. But maybe OK has those deals where if you go solar you can pair up with the power company and greatly reduce the power bill even if you need it occasionally.

I love seeing all the progress on your house. But, oh my goodness!! I got so dizzy when that wire came down from the ceiling! Please please please be careful on those ladders Dutch. You could break some ribs so easily if you fall and they take so long to heal. I fell down my basement steps last October and I couldn't move once I hit bottom. I had broken some ribs so I laid there for six hours before I could crawl up those stairs. I still have rib pain so please be careful. I bought one of those alerts to hang around my neck. Maybe you might consider that for when you are working alone. If you fall, mine connects me to 911 & then I can connect to EMT and get help. Those are long hours to have to wait & wonder if you'll ever get help. I love the idea of the pros & cons of off-grid living. I would love it but my sister would not be able to handle it. Everyone is different so what might be a con to one person, may be a positive to another. I'd love to see your list. Take care & be safe. God bless you and your family. I wish you all the best.

I am not sure what you're planning on a water heater You should look into a demand water heater. Theoretically they are more efficient than a tank water heater they take up a lot less space and are far easier to install and maintain. However, efficiency is based on usage if you limit the duration of a shower to seven minutes or have stop buttons on the shower nozzles they are very efficient, but what you quickly learn is they can also be luxurious, as they are demand you can run them as long as you can supply water.

I've seen where folks replaced the wheels with tractor supply rubber wheels to make it more all terrain 😉

You should have left that contraption on your truck. I love watching your videos. I hope Pearl gets better soon. How’s Betty and her eggs doing ? It’s hot 🥵 in Ohio. Had a storm last night. No electric for about 12 hours. My poor grand dog at 120 lbs was so hot. I opened every window I could for him. Many Blessings to y’all 🎚 Nora🥀

Make sure when you install your bath fans that the vent pipes either out the gable end wall or through the roof to keep the moisture from bathing from condensing on the cold roof sheathing and promoting mold and mildew and possible rotting the sheathing. Also, when buying wire, it is cheaper to buy the 250' rolls than 3 or 4 50' rolls. Having a little left over is better than making all those trips back and forth to get more wire The extra wire can come in handy for other projects or repairs. I know you have a budget but I usually buy a little more of the items I need and when done, I return the unused items for a refund.

Check into giving Pearl ACV! Dutch be careful working up there in this heat.. Reasons too go off grid. 1 it's money in your hands not some big tycoon. 2. Raising you own food is teaching the girls a better way of life, no food shortage to worry about, 3. Healthier. 4. Happier. 5. It is EDUCATIONAL all around,. Make your own food hunt for food animal and plant, make essential oils from the herbs you grow and pick. Girls can learn to spin wool ( alpaca ) and dye it also!

I grew up in the city but I spent a few weeks during the summer at my cousins place in the Sandhills of NC. I remember suckering tobacco and when it was harvest time pulling some leaves to . It is hot and humid in the Sandhills so I can attest to the Southern heat and humidity.

IT Guy here. I would run a cat-5/6 to each tv back to where you plan on bringing the internet into. That way when streaming there is little to no buffering.

I wondered how much heat you would lose out the ceiling and doorway. Check a habitat for humanity restore for temporary doors. They will be cheaper. Sometimes you came find nicer stuff too. I got a beautiful unused farmhouse style kitchen sink which was exactly like I wanted for half the price. My daughter got a ton of hand painted Mexican tiles. Enough for her kitchen backsplash and table and still has a jig box left for $20 I love the weed eater. Just about everyone should be able to use it
