We planned our trip for the lowest attendance week. It was brutally hot, but nearly every ride was walk on. No wait for gringotts or forbidden journey, 20 mins for hagrids, 30 mins for velocoaster.

Um, what time of year did you go? I last went in January 2020 and it was the OPPOSITE. The parks were nearly empty. It unfortunately shoots a hole in my theory that the cold weather and return of school season would affect the crowd level. I can't believe how crowded it was. I guess some parents begged the schools to let their kids attend classes late this year...

It’s always a fun day at Universal no matter how busy it is. We just adjust things as needed. Maybe games and food instead of rides. I’m with Anna- it is borderline miserable to ride a coaster in the cold! We went to Hersheypark on New Years Eve and rode Wildcat’s Revenge. It was 34 degrees. I went to take off my coat, because I wasn’t sure if you could ride a roller coaster with a big coat on. My friend said “put it back on…you’ll freeze to death”….I kept it on and I was still FREEZING!! 🥶 I’m glad she warned me. 😂 Happy New Year y’all!

@@ThePughTwo YES. HORRRRRRRIBLE wind burn!!!! Here’s the thing…New Years Eve is the anniversary of my dad’s passing…..my dad was a HUGE coaster enthusiast. So I ride a coaster for him every NYE. I had shed a few tears going up the lift hill…and my friend next to me…gave my arm a pat…and as we’re going down the hill she yells “RIDE CAMERA- SMILE”….so I did….and you can see the wind burn AND the frozen tears 🤣 It happens to be my favorite picture from the season…..I’ll drop it in your inbox on messenger so you can have a a giggle like we did when we saw it!

I agree about changing your expectations, it makes a huge difference. We also talk to our kids about this when it’s going to be very busy (8 and 10 years old) and it makes a big difference for their expectations of the day. We always have a good time!

We love that!! We always hate to see people having a bad experience at the parks, and it seems like the majority of it is just your mindset when you come in. If you just tell yourself you’re gonna enjoy it, you probably will!

@@erikawhite3520 October was fine, the day was crazy busy on Studios side, but Islands of Adventure was better, outside of Harry Potter area. I'd also say earlier in October is better than later, closer to Halloween seems like more crowds for HHN. We went to Diagon Alley during one of the HHN nights and did all the wand stuff and that was nice and chill for a break. Just depends on how many nights and what you want to do. Lol

@rileyp7 While that may be an argument, I think overall Disney just has a better attraction, for most families. Very kid friendly, most rides are immersive (not just rollercoasters) bathrooms are plentiful, food is not bad and the prices aren't really outrageous.

@@largol33t12 Went to both Universal and Disney just this December-Jan. Universal food is just as pricey if not even just a tad bit more. Also the express passes are outrageous. Disney parks are really immersive and the staff are really passionate about their jobs (most of them anyways). Universal's employees really don't compare when it comes to Disney.

You probably avoided the majority of your country's visitors. 😂🤣 I went around the same time of year when these two did and the "British invasion" was winding down but less than a week later, Argentina and Brazil invaded! They sent TWO full buses to my hotel! It was one big tour group. Fortunately, it was my last day so I dodged a bullet there...

@@ThePughTwo Explains why the hotel staff thought we were nuts. On one trip to florida, it was mid 60's, so we went swimming. We'd just left NY where the temps were in negative numbers, so 60's felt very warm. Staff came running to the pool to ask what we were doing, We were swimming, it was warm enough to us.

We went on Wed/Thurs and Thursday was insane. The lines for every single ride were nuts, so we used the app to find the lowest wait times and just went on anything below an hour wait. Super chilly for Florida too. We took our hotel boat to get to Voodoo doughnuts in the morning and my kiddo was shivering lol. We still had so much fun.

I last went to Universal on the same date and woah! It was f-f-freezing cold. The difference was that the crowds were gone. I guess I'll have to face it: Disney has lost the theme park war. Universal is where everyone wants to be. I still can't believe the park was jam packed this time of the year. It sadly wrecked my theory that the cold weather and return of school season would have any effect on the crowds. Now I don't know how to plan my next trip there. I guess I'll have to wait until Epic Universal opens in about two years (opening day may be earlier, they are making a ton of progress with construction).

During the holidays parks are always busy but universal islands bush gardens SeaWorld will never be as busy as Disney parks and that's a good thing. Universal is stepping up and with epic opening up I think it's getting a bit more popular and it's always cheaper then Disney and way less of a mission

Hi! I love your videos and have been binge-watching them for my upcoming trip. My dad and I are going to Universal this March and this will be my dad’s first time! We have several videos about how to beat the crowds at the parks! Also, butterbeer just depends on where the crowds are. Fountain of fair fortune is usually pretty quick. Depending on the time of day, you can sometimes go into either 3 broomsticks or Leaky Cauldron and get it super fast, too!

Be extra careful when the parts are way to busy. We went to amusement park in our state a few years ago and it was soo very packed. My husband ended up getting supper sick. He had RSV. There isn't any meds they give you. I was really lucky I never got it. I guess I got it when I was a kid. You only get it once. I can't remember if they have a vaccine for it or not. Hey Pugh Two I know this is an older video but I noticed what looked like a Sony Camera? What camera do you guys have? I have a Sony A7III and wanted to take it to the park to take pics/video, but not sure if it would be a hassle when I get on rides? I read that there's lockers on some rides? Also where did you get the camera clip that's on your bag. Thanks for all the info you guys give. My family and I will be at Universal for the 1st time at the end of March!

Hi there! We have a Sony a7iv and more recently a Sony fx3. We put our stuff in the ride lockers for the rides we can’t take stuff on. The camera clip is from peak design! They’re super handy so you can go hands free!!

Hi! Love your videos🤩 Have learned a lot about the parks by watching you guys😊😊 We are going to the parks 2,3,5,6 of August. Do you recommend buying express passes for those days? I have read that the parks can be quite busy the first week of August, and after that the crowd drops. We are staying at the Dockside hotel ( poor research before booking.. should have booked premier hotel.. I know), so express passes are not included. Based of your experience, should we buy express passes for those days? Thank you😉

You can switch hotels with a full refund up to I believe 6 days before your stay. You’ll definitely save money by booking a premier hotel for the express passes rather than buying them outright.

You should still be able to change your reservation to a premier hotel if you’d like! Just call Universal and they can help you with that. As far as how busy the parks are, it shouldn’t be as bad as peak summer, but express will always save you time. It’s just a personal choice!

Can you explain about getting a locker at the rides? I see Anna still wears her cross body but I assume the backpack goes in a locker? Does that slow down the ride process?

We have an entire video explaining how the lockers work! As far as what goes in them, it depends on the ride. You can take a Fanny pack on anything except the three big coasters that put you through a metal detector (Velocicoaster, Hulk, Rip Ride).

I think we hit a sweet spot by going the first week of June. Not sure if all schools had been let out for summer vacay. We really didn’t need the express passes and rode everything multiple times per day. I’m thinking of going the day after the kids go on summer break this year. Also, I’ve noticed that, as of now, it’s cheaper to fly on Tuesdays.

That doesn’t shock us about flights! Tuesdays tend to be slow days in the parks too. And yeah, early June can be nice! A lot of people visit for Memorial Day weekend and then crowds dip a little in the first week!

I can't imagine being at any theme park in those temps with those crowds. Especially if you have to pay full price for a ticket. Unfortunately that's what we have to do. We aren't passholders anywhere. But to go to a park and basically just stand in lines all day, no thank you, I won't do that. I love Universal and Disney, yall already know this. But these days with the massive crowds at every park, it's just not as fun as it used to be. The slow seasons aren't slow anymore. Is there a slow season or a time when the crowds are minimal? I know at Disney it used to be in October. But not anymore. We are planning a 2024 trip down there to both Disney and Universal for two separate trips. Please tell me what time WOULD be the best time to come down for the two separate trips. PLEASE! I can't deal with the massive crowds any longer.

When did you go. We were there on Thursday the 28th and Friday the 29th. Thursday wasn't that bad with the weather but Friday was Super crowded. Luckily we had express on Friday. Diagon Alley was awful
