Vectorman not getting an S tier hurt. That’s my all time favorite game series, so underrated! The character designs were so good, doorman, Marge and Warhead used to give me nightmares as a kid, and I love that. The soundtrack was top tier, graphics were so different but amazing for a Genesis game. It was so fun and there were so many hidden goodies.

Definitely appreciate the rankings here - I would put Contra at SSS+ tier knowing my obsession with the series over the years. I'd also recommend Super Cyborg for fans of run and gun games - it's definitely worth a look!

Aaron, i met you at Portland Retro Gaming Expo a few years ago. I ran into you outside of the event as I was putting my new Coleco Vision into the car and you were skateboarding by, you actually put me in one of your (Retro Liberty) videos! My brother was so jealous, the two of us are massive fans of Retro Liberty. Later that day you held your panel with everyone plus a surprise visit with Wood. You decided to put on a game for everyone in order to win games. It was a "guess the game by the music". I got to go first and you gave me an EXTREMELY easy one (😉😉) it was the DK rap! I walked out with Super C. I had asked all of you to sign it afterwards. I still cherish that cartridge. You are so incredibly generous, Aaron. I know the video I was in is long gone, and that's okay, I'm just so thankful you took the time to have a meaningful moment with me. I look back on those moments i was able to share with my brother. Love your content on the other channel but I gotta say, the podcast is surprisingly great and having Chris and Curtis on this project is refreshing, the friendship and chemistry with Ricky and Riff is genuine! Keep up the good work! I gotta say, one game that should have been on this list is Huntdown. If you never played it, do yourselves a favor and do it! It's on par with Cuphead and Blazing Chrome as the best ''indie'' run n' gun modern game, probably my favorite out of the three and I love the other two. It is become one of my favorite game ever. I would be curious to hear what you guys think about it. I would say that game is perfect and every aspect of it synergize to create a masterpiece of gaming. The gameplay might not be traditional run n gun since it borrows from platformers and other genres, the controls are PERFECT, music and artstyle are superb. With 3 playable characters, story and arcade mode, different difficulty level in story mode, 4 ''worlds'' 20 levels 20 bosses 3 objectives on each level (no death, kill count and 3 secret stash found) + secrets + achievements. The content is trought the roof! Also, I know you guys love Sunset Riders, I do as well, you should look at Deathwish Enforcers, a love letter to that game! Well.... I've been bragging for long enough! Take care of yourselves and have a great rest of your day!

Super C is my favorite Run n' Gun game of all time. I played it so many times on the NES that I could pretty much beat it without losing a life. Spreader FTW!

I was hoping Gunstar Heroes was on the list and it came up first, haha. Such a great game! One of my top 10 Genesis games. I’d place it in S tier as well - I’m with you, Ricky! Cuphead and Sunset Riders are up there for me as well.

Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug are the best to me, never been a big Contra guy but they're definitely good games. Special mention to Dolphin Blue, it's basically Metal Slug on a Dolphin. Very cool game.

@pluspixel I love allot of the ports to the GBA, usually everything was following the same formula of the Mario games on the gba. Which were incredible, with updated graphics and additional levels/content.

What about Heavy Barrel? It's basically just like contra's top-down levels, but hear me out, does it better. Lol. But, Heavy Barrel is a B+ overall. Wish bloody wolf would have made the list too. Its a great run n gun for the turbografx-16. It gets overlooked, but is definitely up there with the best of them.

I gotta say idk how these guys talk about best games of all time and all they talk about is nes and snes stuff when you see how far gaming has come and just technology itself idk i don’t get it lol. When you have games like God of War, Elden Ring, Spider-Man, Last of Us, Zelda Totk and Botw, Mario Odyssey, Uncharted 4, Devil May Cry 5, FF 7 Remake, NieR Automata, Hollow knight, Celeste, The Messenger and Hyper Light Drifter. Also, it’s not old retro gamings fault. Technology, competition, and just the popularity in gaming has grown so much.
