I remember when it first came out, after having a NES and SNES. I was like WTF is this!?! Garbage controller. The 5-10 good games is what keeps it ranked higher than it should be.

@@Jaxxon123 thanks for your opinion. Just know you are in the minority here. Most people think the N64 is a legendary console. And there's way more than 5-10 good games. For example Ocarina of time, Majora's mask, super Mario 64, Mario Party 1,2,3. Mario kart, super smash bros, banjo kazooie, banjo tooie, dk64, Star Fox 64, Goldeneye, perfect dark, paper Mario, conker's Bad fur Day, toy story 2, f-zero x, Diddy Kong racing, Tony hawk pro skater, Bomberman hero, pokemon snap, Pokemon stadium, Yoshi story, Kirby.

@@taylorriccelli4062 An objective minority. Proud of it, too. I didn't like it in '96, and still don't. I can name twice as many NES/SNES games, and nearly all of them would be on the greatest games of all time list. Out of your list, maybe a handful would crack the top 30.

I had the Gameboy Advance and bought a kit to make it backlit, and it was awesome! This was when it came out back in 2001 and not the upgrades they have today.

say what you want about the gameboy but it had some of the greatest gaming experiences of all time for many of us- we experienced tetris on it, the best 2D zelda on it (links awakening) and discovered pokemon on it. and many other of us discovered kirby on it.

Completely with Chris on N64. I tried going from PS to N64 and just couldn't do it. I tried so many games, including Goldeneye. Just not a system I care about. I have 3 in my collection and play none of them

I agree with Chris 100% on the N64. Definitely my least favorite Nintendo console of all time. If it weren't for like maybe 10 games it would be an absolute trash can of a console. As far as the Wii goes though I do think there are a surprising number of great games that are very slept on on the Wii, but he is also 100% right about the shovelware on there so I could see going either way on that one

Anyone that says their favorite console is the N64, you immediately know their age range. For me, it's bottom tier with only a handful of good games. At the same time, my generation would say the NES/SNES is top tier and younger people would scoff at that. Consoles are all about nostalgia and what you grew up with.

The N64 kids are so annoying. They are so nostalgic for that shit console. At least with us, the NES/SNES were actually objectively excellent consoles. The N64 was always shit, they just didn't know it.

GBA- B (I had the SP, but this was when I was a teen and was all about the Xbox/XBL) Virtual Boy- C (I only played it in a Blockbuster but the idea I always thought was cool) Gamecube- A (I loved the Gamecube, but also owned a PS2 and Xbox, so I was playing everything at that point lol) Wii- C (My younger brother had it, but I started to lean towards Xbox at this point in my life as a teenager) N64- S (First console I remember opening as I was too young to remember getting nes, snes, genesis and GB) wii u- B (I loved the virtual console, but didn't get to play many games as I bought the system late into its life) GB- S (I had an OG GB but getting the GB Color was one of the best memories of my childhood. Pokemon was life lol) 3DS- S (This is the system that reignited my love for Nintendo and got me back into Pokemon as an adult lol) nes- A(I was born in '89, so the nes/snes are my earliest memories of gaming) Switch- S (Such a great library, and they incorporated everything from Nintendo up to this point into one system) snes- S (Earliest memories of gaming, and the games are still fun to play as an adult)

I will say I agree with riff on the Wii… the wii is one of my fav consoles ever for many reasons!! Bro it’s an S tier for me on wii. It actually became my top 3rd fav consoles ever! Such a good console man.

Every Nintendo handheld deserves a B at the lowest. Anything lower is straight up disrespectful. The whole DS line is hands down the best handheld. Each version is either an A or S.

Every good Wii game had forced waggle controls like every Nintendo game on that system forced that. Thankfully most of those games got ported to 3ds, wii u and switch without motion controls don't like the wii except for Smash Bros and Xenoblade. Now N64 on the other hand has 20 good games at most and the worst Nintendo controller they have made since the Virtual Boy.

man i have to say i love the Nintendo switch i love the gimmick of the detachable joycons and how you can play it like a home console or as a handheld console. and one if the things i appreciate is while the switch isnt that powerful compared to the next gen standards. i do have to say Nintendo KNOWS how to use the full capacity of the console with a weaker system to make games look greaton it. they just know how to use certain art styles to make games look more next gen than what the console really is. for examples great looking games look BOTW TOTK mario odyssey animal crossing new horizons mario kart 8 super smash bros ultimate. to me they just know how to make a good looking game on a weak console. and also i love that that they dont strive to be the best and most powerful console because they would rather make an extremely fun game meant for a large audience any one wants to pick up

Aside from nostalgia the music and gameplay is just phenomenal. Mario world, mega man x, DkCountry, metroid, gaeomon to name a few. Just so many great titles ❤

I played a lot of Nintendo up until PS2 came into my life. Finally got a PS5 last Oct directly from PS website. Then I finally got a Switch Christmas 2022 😅 It has consumed my life. Have barely touched my giant white modem.... errrr the PS5 since. 😂 So for me to hear that the Switch is past its prime is funny ❤ Love you guys! Thanks for the great content.

N64 is legendary, for its time the 64-bit processor was the best money could buy, most current generation gamers are on a nostalgia trip because 99% of next generation games are trash the N64 has defeated the PlayStation and Xbox.

I'd give the N64 a B+. Solid titles, but the controller, man. I've worn out those freaking joysticks (no jokes, please!) plus you gotta get Controller Paks and Expansion Paks to get the full experience. Thankfully there's modern conveniences and controller converters to make things easier.

One thing I don’t understand about this group of guys is the hype for the GameCube. Hardly anyone as a kid I’ve talked to had one and the guys that did hate it. It was so goofy looking. I remember kids getting picked on and beat up for trying to stand up for it(I know that doesn’t make it right) but I’ve never heard anything positive about the GC and I’m surrounded by retro gamers. But the N64 I would easily put S tear. Loved the console loved the controller, loved all the games. Nintendo seemed to fall off the face of the earth with the GC until the Switch came out.

You can’t talk about how bad the graphics for the N64 are then turnaround and boost the Playstation. Especially since the N64 is stronger in some respects than both the Playstation and the Saturn when it came to producing 3D graphics. All of the 3D graphics from that gen have aged horribly though so I understand the perspective to a degree. The best looking Playstation and Saturn games are 2D sprite based games and the N64 barely had any of those so it hurts it in conversations like this

im gonna have to agree about the N64. The controller was terrible and the 3d and sound for being more powerful then the ps1, still cant compare to it. Ps1 has some funny blocky 3d when you look at it now but no where near as bad as n64 does. Also the music part you are correct in saying, imo, that donkey kong country song is the best on the entire console. Only one other song I have heard can come close to it is the game Waterworld and the Maps song. If youve not heard waterworld maps, go look it up asap

I gave thumbs down to N64 cuz I never really got to play it. But compared to NES and Super NES those are an S both. The wii is so weird, it’s only good for dancers. Gameboy is epic probably a B mostly because I’d Tetris. N Switch an A because it basically emulates the NES and is cool you can handheld or TV it. All others F. Except 3Ds an A, I have awesome memories of both my boys playing Mario kart on their 3dss while traveling hours in the car and the wireless connectivity is impressive.

Like the wii was cool but I almost hated how all the normies had one and all anyone wanted to play was wii sports 😂 I'm an introvert so playing party games wasn't my thing. As for the N64 it's a console I never liked much. I never liked the controllers and at that time I wasn't into those sorts of games

Gamecube is a S tier I love that console my 2nd favorite of all time. Wii u is a A love that console and like it better then switch. Ds is a C for me. NES is a B for me. I'd put N64 on S or A solely on the strength of Super Mario 64. Aaron was spot on with its description - life changing. I did switch to the PS1 later on as the carts were expensive here where I am. Given that, even though N64 has a very special place in my heart, it was no match for the PS1. But that is the thing, it gave a good fight to the emerging gaming juggernaut that is Sony. And that is another reason why I am giving it high marks.

Man, I love your guys' podcast: the energy, chemistry, jokes, different personalities is what makes this podcast so entertaining. You guys are awesome! I personally would give Nintendo DS solid S. Its library matches the PS2 one and original DS and DS lite can also play GBA cartridges.
