Sacha Baron Cohen was originally set to play him. Can't deny he's got a good resemblance to the guy. They were originally going down a more comedic (and actually historically accurate) direction with a story about Freddie's many bisexual sexcapades and shenanigans, but conflicts with producers led to that version being scrapped. I adored the final result but I can't help but think the original movie sounds good in its own right. I want both!

May and Taylor felt Cohen did not take Freddie seriously enough and they did not want a sensationalized version of their best friend and brother and I cant say I blame them.

How's this as to the popularity if the movie: I work in a large retail store (like WalMart but not wm) . the store ordered 120 copies of the movie; 100 on Bluray & 20 on regular DVD. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them sold before 12:00 (noon) the same day. Our policy is to not put new releases out before 8:00 am....so it was 120 movies sold in 4 hours or less. THAT is PROOF of a popular mivie, folks.
