The potential of this upgrade, no longer needing to have the amp racks which saves space and also less having to drive the p.a’s high end, no longer having to crank the input gain… It’s hard to describe again as someone just learning how the difference can seem miniature at a glance and may not seem like much but the potential I think can be huge, couldn’t you also do outdoor shows so the those stack speakers too? Also the bands in the video sounded fantastic too. Crazy good video Chris ✌️

Nice video. Thanks for showing this. Raises questions so far ;-) I’m mixing metal and Rockbands like this shown in a local club with about same size. My challenge is always the harsh cymbals. As we should keep it maximum loud by about 95dba by law, the cymbals often kills the sound… how loud was that show? Did you have a measuring? How about a video killing the harsh cymbals? Did you had an overhead? I saw you had mikes on toms, about 5-6 channels for the drum set?
@chrishammillaudio5 ай бұрын
I have overheads hanging from the ceiling but I use those only for my stream. Can’t really do much for cymbals unless you have a drum shield or one of those chambers, but most touring bands kits are as big as the riser and wouldn’t fit if I had one of those chambers. I don’t really measure the show but I’ll check the DB level on my watch.

Hey, I'm also using the x32! I wanted to know if you had a solution for sending IEMs pre-fader. Lets say I mute my acoustic on the board, it also mutes in the IEMs. I read this is a limitation of the x32 and even if you set it to pre-fader it will still not work as it's supposed to. The best I can get is muting groups without it reflecting in the IEMs. I'm curious if you have a solution. Thanks!
@chrishammillaudio6 ай бұрын
I’ve honestly never had that situation or needed to find that solution. The only thing I would suggest is see if you can go in the bus routing screen and see if there’s a section that says pre fader.

yo!! awesome vid as always! don't find the time to always look everyone now as i'm busy recording my album;) Systems can make a huge difference... specially when upgrading from such an old system. system design has come a long way the last 30 years... and the previous system was also a bit a mix of things afaik... i use a system of the successor of those jbl sr-4732x, the srx series. Proper Amping is key though! maybe system needs some tuning to tame the subs?;) Interestingly, i couldn't quickly find specs about the input sensitivity of these subs...
@chrishammillaudio6 ай бұрын
Definitely needs some tweaking.
@SpliffyBendrixHT6 ай бұрын
A lot is up to taste, obviously. But curious why you don’t use your M/C for independent sub control? I just mixed at a venue that just had the subs tied to the main LR and found it really awkward not having a meter dedicated to my subs. Love the channel and all the hard work you put in!
@chrishammillaudio6 ай бұрын
Probably going to do that next. They don’t want the amp volume on the speakers messed with. Never had to before with the previous system.
@dustinthiessen6 ай бұрын
@@chrishammillaudio send your LR to MAIN and SUB matrices rather, and one for stream, otherwise I think you'll find your streams will lack the low end. do all your PA processing on the matrices instead of the LR.
@billparker48156 ай бұрын
@chrishammilaudio genuine question, how does the Pa system affect your choice of input gain setting? Wouldn’t that be an amplifier setting adjustment rather than input gain?
@chrishammillaudio6 ай бұрын
The PA speakers themselves at unity means I need very little input gain to get a good volume out of the sources. The downside of that is less input gain means I need to boost the sends to the monitors. The stage volume is still the same as before. Raising input gain to compensate means the PA is now too hot and I have to greatly reduce my faders below -10. It’s a learning curve getting a new PA in a room. I’m gonna have to go back to having my input gain hover around -12 to have sufficient volume for the monitors and probably just turn down the volume knobs on the speakers themselves to control house volume.
@dustinthiessen6 ай бұрын
@@chrishammillaudio If you use matrices, like I just mentioned in another comment a minute ago, you can also compensate for the PA being too loud there, and still get your input gain at a good level, and faders around unity mark 👍🏼

If it feels like there's a heavy amount of low-end would it be worth bringing down your sub amps? The direct recording of the desk felt a little harsh, you might be fighting that the low end in your mixing. Whatever works though I guess! Could sound great irl.
@chrishammillaudio6 ай бұрын
This was my first show on it. Can’t expect it to sound perfect and dialed in right out of the gate. Camera compressed the audio. Low end is fine.

@@Richard1977 RCF, while nice, is not in the same market as this. I've used a lot of top end gear (Meyer, L acoustics, Erikson and yes, RCF). Their entry level stuff is great (ART 745 and 9008 are a killer combo for small venues) but their mid tier is not that much better for the same price as these BassBoss systems. I've A/Bd Bassboss, RCF, JBL and Martin Audio cabs around 5K, Bassboss subs beat everyone apart from Martin, and fullrange on the Martin and BassBoss were clearer than the RCF Nx somethings.
