Hey Chris, You're doing an amazing work on helping churches across the country improve their sound mixes while not tampering too much with the existing systems. I myself am a worship leader in our church and I wanted to know if you could give some tips on areas of improvement in our church mix if I shared the link of the live stream with you. That would be of great help

Can you do a video on the how to fix lost of control of the outputs on a X32 we just moved into our new church and the guy who set up the system did something wrong to the routing that I can’t figure out and it’s killing the quality of my house and my live stream
@chrishammillaudio
@chrishammillaudio Күн бұрын
Not sure what your issue is specifically but the default outs for the X32 are 7-8 on the compact and 15-16 on the full size. In routing, make sure outputs 15-16 are selected for the main bus.
@ARoss83
@ARoss83 Күн бұрын
@ live stream is on outs 9 & 10 he came by Sunday told me that the outs weren’t routed local - his mistake now I don’t have anything going to the stream channels mixer shows nothing
@chrishammillaudio

@ So go into routing and route the Matrix feed or bus feeding your stream mix to outputs 9-10

Just tuned in from UK for a listen to your band setup Mick. This the journey Im on as just formed my first band a year back, not too shabby for a pensioner lol. Always been solo. This is activity has led me to the A&H mixer, so good to see how this all comes together for you. Tight band. Enjoyed. Also enjoyed the sound engineering linkage here.

Very helpful. I am in the midst of purchasing tix for colorado now. I was going to do presale or enhanced experience but I think i will just wait for 2 day open. what you described is my feeling about beyonce concert at sofi in 2023 and i paid $290 plus extras like buffet dinner $75 and of course the special silver outfit lol. i described it as a reverb or echo plus i was not happy with the seats i got for that amount. seat selection and sound are very important. THANKS!

I’ve seen several of these now, and great job on all! It floors me how few churches have someone that can do this well. Guess there just aren’t enough audio nerds like us. Haha The kindness of those folks was a beautiful thing. And yeah, be kind. Negativity just takes so much energy. It’s draining. Great work Chris, and thanks for sharing!

I follow your channel regularly and enjoy the Mixer Meltdown series. I love your content. I am a FOH sound engineer at my church in Canada, and they use the same A&H Sq-5 mixer. I am fairly comfortable with it now since I have been regularly mixing for them over 1 year now, but watching this video is helping me learn more ins and outs about the board that I didn't know. Keep it up!

It's kinda funny how the church that jerked you around so much got in contact after your video went online. On one hand you feel for them since they obviously are dealing with some major internal problems. But on the other hand they did waste large chunks of your time.

Chris, do you charge hourly for these jobs or is a flat fee for the day? I have to imagine it'd have to be hourly, since you have no idea what you're walking into.

@chrishammillaudio

I wear headphones and listed to the board mix all the time. The headphones are my ear protection. Once I get the initial levels inside, headphones go on and I hardly ever take them off again.

@toddleach1108 2 күн бұрын
Once the finer EQ, etc. are set, then the majority of the activity is just fader mixing. So, at first, I use my unprotected ears. Then later, headphones or IEMs are feasible as are ear plugs that only slightly attenuate the volume.

You're awesome! I have a few questions for you: 1- As an audio tech myself who is trying to get to do the same job you're doing in another state. I have done it for a few churches but can't seem to be able to get the word out enough. what do you do to get your name out there for churches to call you and ask you to fix their mix other than the youtube channel? 2- On the x32 and m32 specifically, but generally on most consoles, I like to have the master fader for LR be at 0 and adjust everything accordingly, why do you have it low? I feel like it doesn't push the consoles enough to get the full push from everything? I may not be able to explain it quiet well, but I hope you're understood what I am trying to ask. Thanks, keep doing what you're doing. You're patient and awesome!

1- The KZbin channel is the only reason I get calls. If I didn’t have the channel I’d look up every local church near me, listen to their stream, and send a press kit with my credentials and body of work. 2- The master fader didn’t need to be at 0. It was plenty loud at that level.

4:50 I'm running the latest Wing Compact software (v3.0.5) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to switch all channels to alt at once. What I found was faster though, going into Setup -> Audio, under Input Select there's a Main/Alt switch (that doesn't work) and an input select view. Click the view and drag your finger across the channels you want to switch inputs for. Saves a lot of time when you have a lot of inputs to handle.
@chrishammillaudio
@chrishammillaudio 3 күн бұрын
I can’t figure it out either so I just do it manually. It’s annoying but it’s a small price to pay for all of the amazing things the Wing can do.

This Mixdown Meltdown videos are really good, I do have a question though, did the rest of the churches not use effects (like reverb and delay) in-house and in-stream because they didn't need it, know about it? I mean Transformation Church's sound (EP3) was "record ready", you could release that commercially, while the rest you could hear that "it's a livestream".
@chrishammillaudio
@chrishammillaudio 5 күн бұрын
The musicianship makes a mix more than anything I can do behind the board. That point can not be stressed enough from the videos.
