I figured when they asked Brian Gallant "Who's looking after the trees"? I was waiting for him to say, " Don't worry, Irving is looking after those."
@NeganPFVAN3 жыл бұрын
Dude, used to sell the newspapers over the phone using the phone book as my reference... actually called Mrs Irving and tried selling it to her. She giggled, cut me off to say who she was and requested that I finish my speel so she can hear how I was selling her paper :) Damn nice lady, but then again...she is a maritimer right ;)

The problem is that we do not reflect enough on our history in Canada. We try and hide it. And you know what they say about those who do not learn from their history. Because if we did, New Brunswick would be a huge deal. The last decisive naval battle between France and Britain was fought in the Bay of Chaleur in Northern New Brunswick. First Nations people played an important role in helping survivors. This place is so very important and yet very few people even know this aspect of New Brunswick’s history. It should be a big deal, and it’s not even in our history books.

Wasnt it originally settled by loyalist refugees?
@marynoonan96793 жыл бұрын
@@dperry19661 no...the winners write the history books......first it was Vikings, then French, then English......Loyalists were much later. The lines were drawn after the Brits lost against the Americans. The Americans ( what we call them now) said they didn’t want that frozen piece of ground that we now call Canada. So we got Canada because the Americans didn’t care enough to fight for it.

New Brunswick should market itself as a foodie province. When I did a trip of the east coast in 2015, I had some of the best food in New Brunswick. I can still remember the divine seafood chowder I had in this tiny little village on the way to Hopewell Rocks. It's also the only bilingual province and it have the largest french population outside Quebec whose culture is vastly different from them. They're nice for 1 thing. That province is not boring at all. Have anyone been to Saskatchewan?

Manitoba is bilingual also...So there goes that.
@Innuya3 жыл бұрын
@Jim Davison from wikipedia "At the provincial level, the Constitution Act, 1982 recognizes and guarantees the equal status of French and English in New Brunswick. While French has equal legal status in Manitoba restored due to a court ruling that struck down seventy-year-old English-only laws in 1985, in practice, French language services are only provided in some regions of the province. " So Manitoba is kind of bilingual, but not on the same legislative level as NB.
