I just reported the false video with the following statement (press 3 dots under video, select "Spam or Misleading", select "Scams or Fraud"): This video contains stolen content from "Tech Ingredients", a KZbin channel with 722K subscribers. I reported for you guys. I just posted a couple videos as well with similar issues with bots and scams affecting my channel. I really hope something is done about this on youtube. My suggestion would be to allow verified creators to have a higher amount of weight when they report something like this. They already have our personal info so youtube would definitely be able to do KYC and then elevate our abilities to help fight spam if we wanted to and any creator abusing the system would just have that feature blocked from being used. If a creator sent a flag on a video a yt employee could double check to see if there's an issue here and if so, take appropriate action. Maybe even incentivize creators by giving them an extra 5-10% on their ad revenue if they did this. It would pay creators extra since its a job to fight bots and spam. Instead they spend their time deleting the dislike :(

What's more embarrassing than having your content used by a scam? Being a multi-billion dollar tech company that generates nearly all of it's revenue from advertising that is incapable of allocating the resources and developing a process to squash these scams within hours, let alone days... or WEEKS! So much for their "do the right thing" motto eh?
@VoIcanoman2 жыл бұрын
Yeah...I can see why they abandoned their original motto: "don't be evil." Because I can't think of a single multi-billion dollar global multinational corporation that has managed to avoid evil. It's the nature of the game...and aspiring to such lofty heights necessitates a certain amount of willingness to do evil, wherein the people involved tell themselves that "the ends justify the means." It's far easier to say that you're affirming the more positive "do the right thing" because whatever the right thing is, it's extremely subjective. Evil is subjective too, but I think it is a greater PR nightmare to have people claiming that they're going against their word and "being evil," compared to having people accusing them of not doing the right thing.

@@VoIcanoman a bit of topic, but I recently had a similar conversation with a work colleague. We were talking about rich ppl in general, and I made the comment that nobody made it rich by being nice/good. She got offended coz she said she had a friend back in Ireland who became a multi millionaire from being basically a garbage man. Skip bins, collections, mass transportation, ect. Got to a good income, very comfortable, then sold it to a Euro company for a few 10s of millions. She said he was a good person, and he probably is. I tried to gentle explain that( without him being a evil person) he only made his first income by charging ppl way more then the actual cost of his service, since unless you break even, you are charging customers more then what the service and overheads costs( not that that is inherently wrong, ppl gotta make money after all), and that him selling the company for millions was even worse for his customers. After all, that new company would want to make it’s money back, plus profit. So cost would go up and service down and probably a lot of downsizing. But he didn’t ‘care’ about that, only the money. So basically, he put his bank account over that of other ppl( not to mention that of the other company, since if someone offered you more then your company was worth, would you really tell then that it was to much?). End of day, that doesn’t make one a evil or bad person. We all wanna be rich. But you can’t say that such a person is good. A ‘good’ person would not make a profit, may even end up with a loss. But that is a vast difference then knowingly( or choosing plausible deniable) making a profit on something that actively hurts others. That is evil.

Enough to make even the original wonder if they had really done it. The main thing is that it is a waste of time and money really. After all, scammers target the dumb. That is why their scams seem so weak. If you are smart enough to see that it’s a scam, you might be smart enough to cause them trouble, so they weed out those ppl by making them so obvious that they are a scam that almost anyone who bits either can’t do anything, or ( better for the scammers) are so embarrassed that they stay quiet about it.

oh yeah, deep fakes will explode in elections all throughout the world, I'm sure in a couple months I'll be seeing some in my country with the run for presidency and after that, with the coming coup de etat that will happen despite the election results (as in the current president(ofc it's fucking Bolsonaro that I'm talking about) is a fascist involved in illegal armed militias and has stated multiple times that he won't concede, and our governmental institutions are so much weaker than the US's, Jan 6 will be a jk compared to what'll happen here), it'll be used as propaganda. Cambridge analytica's manipulation and spread of misinformation that changed the course of the previous elections in both out countries (2016 in US and 2018 in Brazil) will look like children's play compared to what'll inevitably happen in the coming months and years. Hopefully someone can step in, but I'm sure that even if it does happen at all, it'll be too late already. We're living yet another historical moment as it unfolds, And it'll be known as a fucked up one.
@Ewr422 жыл бұрын
Remember to tune in next year to the events in Brazil, I'm sure it'll be historical, hopefully with ex-presidente Lula being elected and a failed coup but I'm not that hopeful that the coup will fail, so grab your popcorn and tune in to the official consolidation of Bolsonaro as one of the worst dictators to ever exist and the downfall of Brazil's democracy. wish us luck and start praying for us, things been (not so)slowly but steadily crumbling down around here since 2012.(after our first female president was reelected and subsequently impeached for something that was neither illegal/malpractice nor actually committed by her, and that Bolsonaro's been commiting all the time along with many, MANY other crimes. there are more than 100 impeachment processes against him, all shut down by the Federal Prosecutor that should hold him accountable.) (just to add insult to injury, they unlawfully imprisoned our ex president Lula mid presidential-race And the judge responsible for it gained the ministry of justice in Bolsonaro's government, before even him himself resigned because of how unlawful things got inside his government) And all that doesn't even begin to tell how fucked up things are, but neither I nor you have the time to talk about everything that's wrong, it's a couple new chapters every week, at the very least, enough to fill up more than 15 books a year, I kid you not. I wish the us were to intervene in our democracy now, as they couldn't possibly make things any worse if they tried.

I've seen several of these scams, using clips of Musk or Depp. This is a new trend.
@StixFerryMan2 жыл бұрын
A thought about way Musk is buying Twitter is because of all the scams using his name and related businesses. Maybe he will go after acquiring YT if they get worse here. MxR Plays lost their channel for a while when a scammer using Tesla as it’s name actively took it over, renaming it and wiping not only their videos but their subscribers. Yes that was a hack more then just your run of the mill scam, but it is still the same thing at the end of the day. YT, FB, Twitter, all get used by scammers and it is getting worse. Sadder still to see actual content creators fall for the scams and shill for them. Though that hasn’t happened quite as bad as it did a few years ago.

Firstly, I don’t understand how anyone would ever consider buying something advertised by using a text-to-speech voice over. Especially if the advertiser uses such a cheap and bad sounding one. Secondly, I am surprised that KZbin is dragging their feet on something like this. Their knee-jerk reaction to DMCA complaints I have seen on other channels( even when it is obvious fair-use), it is surprising that they have not taken it down after your complaint. Add to the fact that you are obviously you, as in the person that they have used without permission, one wonders why they didn’t take immediate action… mmmm, well, I don’t really wonder… I have suspicions that it has to do with money. I have seen behaviour like this before, where a company seems to run into ‘complications’ when it has to remove something that blatantly violates TOS, and then ppl who know where and how to dig find evidence of large sums of money from the violators being paid to said company.

KZbin's hesitancy is directly and logarithmically correlated to your legal budget, and it appears also your connections in the media industry. It's funny that you say "impostor" when it's a text-to-speech system, it's not even a human. I wouldn't take the "distributor" at their word. Odds are they specifically are behind the scam. Chinese company can't just run advertisement on KZbin, someone else is organising this from a different country. And odds are the guys in China just don't care (or need to care) how the product is sold, and they'll slap you any brand you want on it once you commit to buying a certain quantity which isn't very high at all, after all this is how store brands work. These sorts of products are generally dropshipped, so there isn't even any traditional distribution activity involved, all they do is place advertisement and run a website, while the product is mailed directly from a hired warehouse over in China, there are numerous companies that specialise in this, this is also how you receive your products when you buy from Chinese sellers directly, for the most part both the manufacturer and the warehouse are involved in a honest business. But the "distributor's" fulfilment partners being over there out of your jurisdiction is just such a convenient excuse. "Computer Clan" and several other channels maintain a collection of these scam ads and products. Swamp coolers like these are common, but also monoculars, "power saving" scam plugs (a capacitor and an LED), chargers (potentially dangerous), "affordable luxury" wrist watches. Any sort of product that is about $15 or less in actual value, where the price is jacked up 10fold and ridiculous claims are made about the performance and capabilities or quality of the product. It's always the same sort of story "big business is scamming you, so two guys took it into their own hands to revolutionise"... etc. Some of these products are "fine" in one way or another, just not worth the money, the swamp coolers are situationally useful in some regions, cheap wrist watches are tolerable if you pay $7-$12 for them rather than $100 that they call out, and a $6 plastic-lens monocular is good for a bit of fun if you don't have any expectations for sharpness and contrast.

I have had an ultrasonic humidifier by Fakir but it died and then I rebuilt the electronics but I couldn't get just the right transistor so it was never quite right afterwards, and I then threw it away, after 20 years, which might as well be a decent run. I have a different one now which just passes air through a rotating wet drum, but it isn't very well put together, kind of loud. A local discount store has these swamp coolers for like 16€ so I might just pick it up for this purpose, and if it isn't great I can just refund it. I can be kinda reasonably certain to get a device that is up to local electrical safety standards at least. It does tend to be extra warm around the year here as well. Damn "modern smart Home" as designed and built in mid 60s where all the automation is weird.

So what you are saying is going on here is the logistics equivalent of the Milgram experiment.

For some reason this just popped up in my feed, and apparently it's 2 years old. I clicked the link just to see what happened and I was very happy to find that the video has been removed. 😊 I hope you were able to bring this to a good end.
