Jon and Marcus please don't get me wrong. But you really don't need to worry so much about cameras you shoot with. I get it, you love cameras and so do I. But your current quality is amazing and there is really no need to complicate it even more since the quality is already at the very top! Casey also mentioned this is his very recent vlog...You really have amazing quality so you can now focus only on the content :) Anyways, wish you all the best! ;)

And shooting on a more advanced set up will force us to learn and my motto is that every day you learn something is a good day. The RED looks really neutral. Check out MKBHD he uses RED cameras and his colour grading is really good and gives off a vibrant look. To be honest, I'd just stick with the LEICA and shoot 4K to get more detail out of it on KZbin; considering 4K downscaling to 1080p looks better (Upload 4K but watch it on 1080p)

I agree with sticking to Leica (although todays RED footage looks better than yesterdays one). It would be great to if Jon switched to posting in 4K - it not only makes a difference on 1080p screens here. It makes enormous difference for higher pixel screens like iMacs (1440p since like 2010), Retina MacBooks (also 1440p or even more) and other PC’s with big screens, not to mention 5K ones from apple. Bring the 4K guys!

"20 Seconds in Thailand / Thailand Rob" did a survey, 1080 vs 4K on his September 9th vlog #168 @3:40. If you click on the i in the top right corner 67% of the people chose "A", which was 1080.... Maybe you could do the same survey before dumping a ton of cash on a camera that 1. you don't like to hold high enough to selfie and 2. it will not give you more viewers b/c you are already at Casey Neistat quality or better 3. Can people using cell phones and tablets tell the difference? 4. As Casey Neistat, George Lucas and many others have said it's all about the story. So take a float plane to Martha's Vinyard for lunch or get a back stage tour somewhere. Of course it would be great for Marcus to put the Red on his resume so that would be cool. And congrats, almost 250,000 subscribers without any begging. You don't even ask us to hit the like button, I'm not even sure if you've heard of patreon.... haha, but that would be one way to fund the camera, or the next epic trip. LOVED Bali, that was totally epic, !

If you haven't noticed yet, they shoot most of their footage in 1080p/ 120fps in order to make those amazing slow motion 'trasition' shots. Filming in 4k would mean no slow motion at all, since the leica sl 'only' shoots 4k in 24, 25 and 30pfs.

Thanks for the patience. A RED Vlog is a huge step and completely new to us so the first few days its a million things to learn, but give us a couple days and its going to be as easy as filming a vlog on an Iphone! ;-) Time to go shoot some more!

Nice love the red!!. Piece of advice. Get a red rocket in a thunderbolt enclosure for your MacBook. And try out color finale for grading it in fcpx or premiere. You'll be able to get all your flat looks and curve adjustments that you were doing with the Leica a lot easier than reds software

In my personal opinion, I feel like the image quality with the Leica is a lot better! It is one of the reasons why I watch the blog because it gives a uniquely crisp image. The RED camera the last two days has just looked dark and less vibrant. I also feel it will limit you guys on what you can do and where you can take it! In my opinion... Stick with the Leica!!
