@@BDT31 I think Kane’s bad performances has little to do with him and much more to do with Southgate tbf. Are we forgetting how good Kane is. I do agree he should not be dropping that deep but Southgate is the manager he should be telling Kane to push up higher. I also agree that Kane doesn’t have the ability to make runs inbehind as well as he used to due to his age. But Kane is still a world class player, we need to involve his style more into our system. Having 2 wingbacks wich are on the wrong foot is ridicules in my opinion when u have such a good finisher like Kane. As it limits the amount of quality crosses we produce for Kane. So if I was Southgate I’d change the wingbacks to Lwb - Saka and rwb - Trent. And then Palmer for foden and then keep Kane in the team,

Southgate talking about players with no tournament experience? These players have been in tournaments since they in U12s and play in some of the largest stadiums every week in the Premier League. While I appreciate his point, Kobbie Mainoo plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world, with expectation equal to, if not exceeding England.

Mainoo only made his debut in the prem this season (he is quality) and his international debut a few months before the tournament And this is international football, the players only get a month every year training and playing with each other and then a few weeks to prepare for a tournament every 2 years consisting of only 7 games (if you make it all the way) So yes experience is important, particularly for the balance of the squad, and England have been cursed with a few key experienced players having awful seasons/injuries. Rashford, Phillips, Grealish, Sterling, Shaw, Magiure etc. So there is a big challenge in that regard. And there is a reason the link up play and Performances, while still not great, have improved drastically. Players are getting experience playing with each other, getting the sixth sense on what runs each other will make, what each player will like to do with their first touch etc. A good example has been Mainoo, he has always looked to go forward and been impressive, but if you compare his Serbia cameo performance to the Swiss game. You can see he is starting to understand the runs and movement the likes of Bellingham and Foden want to make and where the space will be to run into/ where to play the ball

People forget, just having Kane on the pitch creates space. Rewatch the Swiss game, Kane always drew 1/2 defenders giving the others space. Obviously everyone wants Kane to play better, but you can’t take his presence off the pitch

If you watch Saka’s balls in you can see Kane holding his run which drops a defender who expects him to run in, but then saka plays the ball straight rather than back. But it has improved over the last games and we’ll see tomorrow

We are basically playing with 2 natural 10's and a false 9. Kane is the type of striker that needs a strike partner like Son who runs in behind, or a positional genius like Muller who can move defenders like puppets. He was never going to get to that ball from Saka.

In the attacking midfield England have the Premier League Player of the Season, the La Liga Player of the Season and Saka. You need Saka as a natural winger. There is already an issue of playing both Bellingham and Foden, you can’t play all 3 centrally inclined attacking midfielders. And then you have to decide and both Bellingham and Foden have far more international experience and have played with the other players for longer. It’s tough for Palmer but he will get that exposure over the WC qualifiers and will be a mainstay in the future. But like Bellingham in 2021, he just needs to get that experience first
