Fellow Scot here Neil. Respect much of your work,but on lockdown I think you got it wrong. Medical and Scientific opinion disagree. The two week delay in the first lockdown (March 2020) cost 20,000 lives. The second three month delay, when the death curve was rising exponentially,cost 90,000 lives. These delays led to the UK having one of the highest death toles im the world -1/4 million. The vaccine saved us from from a world death toll similar to the bubonic plague of the sixteenth century True, children health was not affected nearly as badly as adult, but you can't have a lockdown only for adults! Countries who imposed rapid lockdowns and extensive immunisation fared best.

I don't know if anyone has read the Virginia Andrews novel 'Flowers In The Attic.' It's a brilliant read, but, I'm not going to say too much as not to spoil things. But the children's mother Corinne locks them away in a room with only the attic above them as their playground, and gaslights them by convincing them they will only be there a short time. Well, during the lockdown the government did the same to us, as Corinne did to her children. It started off with three weeks to flatten the curve, then stretching things out and moving the goalposts. Liars the whole lot do them, especially SAGE and Matt Hancock yet they get away with it.

I have a messed up 16 year old. I had to take him out of school due to his anxieties caused by the lock down, not the believe of covid but by the staff at the school enforcing a prison system when the schools reopened and the isolation he endured due to not being vaccinated. I paid for online tutors for 2 years and he is still not going to be able to take any GCSE. I'm struggling to get him onto an apprenticeship due to not going through the normal indoctrination process. Thank you for bringing this issue to light.

Well maybe Neil, it's that most people still consider parents to be the primary guardians of children, not the government. So when I hear that kids have language delays caused by lockdown I think, what, all that time being at home with their parents and the moms and dads couldn't be bothered to teach their kids to speak? What did they do, put them in a closet somewhere and wait for the government to come back into action to teach them the language skills that parents for all of speaking history taught their kids? Sorry, but how is the general population supposed to be expected to care more about the well being of kids than their own, too busy to deal with them, parents? Laura Ingalls Wilder spent years getting toted around the prairie with credibly busy parents who worked like dogs all day every day just to stay alive, missing years of schooling and in 'isolation' and she managed to learn to read and write and speak, while avoiding suicide. Anne Frank spent more than two years hiding with her family in three attic rooms from people out to murder her and she had better mental health than US/UK kids during lockdown. Sorry, but it ain't the circumstances, it's the way parents raise their kids that is 90% responsible for poor outcomes. We have set the bar far, far too low for what we expect from parents these days, and far, far too high for what we are demanding of government. And we throw open the door to government to all kinds of invasive, intrusive areas that governments have no business occupying, all the while not a single person is demanding that parents put down their phones and do their job raising their kids.

Oh and there was this amazing anti-isolation/anti-loneliness tool I was tipped off to when I was a kid called BOOKS. Crazy me, I still have a house half-filled with them. And if you aren't weird like me, Amazon is happy to delivery any and all you want, practically 24/7. And Amazon was running just fine during covid. I wouldn't have 'home schooled' my kids but I sure as heck would have given them a big fat reading list and an expectation of a book report every night at dinner. I guess 'lockdowns' blew the doors off of the 'I'm too busy' rationalization. I'm also hearing people talk endlessly about the other big horror of lockdowns was that all the monitoring personnel of the state weren't able to monitor kids for signs of abuse from parents. Shows such a major, dark, and cynical shift in the way the state sees itself as full-time playground monitor even in the home. Sounds like the powers-that-be are fixing to institute child licenses that would-be parents have to be screened to to receive in order to meet state requirements. I don't think the people talking about the state's failure to monitor the well being of kids have been fully thought through by the people, who merely need a talking point. I worked at a summer camp were we all had to take 'grooming' training to learn how to spot and report inappropriate behavior. Not only was the training hard to deal with as far as gut wrenching emotional impact, which I didn't think was warranted given the small number of cases, but we all know concerning the big scandals, when they are uncovered, the authorities (the ones we are all supposed to be spying on behalf of), but often time the abusers are protected or even facilitated. Look at this massive abuse trans scandal perpetrated BY THE AUTHORITIES. So I'm supposed to be peering in doorways and looking over shoulders for any sign of inappropriate behavior while the 'authorities' are cutting off kids genitals without a care. Let's face it, when a kid is being abused EVERYONE knows it. There are several pop songs from the 80s sung from the perspective of neighbors who KNEW what was going on. Everyone 'knows'. Everyone in the Catholic community knew what a lot of priests were up to. Well said Neil. In Australia it was take it or miss your school formal. I saw parents rush to get it for their children so they wouldn’t miss a milestone. We ended up having mass outbreaks in all the vaxed only formals anyway. Just like Xmas in 2021 when families were encouraged to exclude family and children from Xmas gatherings and yet again that year those exclusive Xmas parties had outbreaks. In school holidays one year unvaxed children couldn’t go to the movies unless they were accompanied by a vaxed adult - like how does that even make sense? Children couldn’t complete their final school exams unless they were jabbed and buses ferried high school children to a mass vax hub at a sports stadium. Parents were discouraged to attend with them. Children were told by the health minister to go and “get a piece of gold in your arm” playing on the Olympic spirit at the time. I kept wondering where was the “noise” from the parents, where was the outrage and outcry … and the guilt that they (the children) would kill granny was dreadful and parents gobbled it up, no critical thinking. It was and is a real life horror story. Thanks Neil.

I read only yesterday about schools up north, where teachers were having to supply pupils with PE kits, clothes and even bedding, the families were so hard up that children were starving, one even begging outside a supermarket for food. These children were not able to sleep because the parents couldn't afford heating, even a bed for them to sleep in. It was too cold for them to sleep - some didn't even have a working washing machine! Teachers were having to shower some children because there was no hot water and mould! This was not headline news! No! The headline was a picture of the royals - which bits were photoshopped!! Oh, and Sunaks nephew 'given' £22 million in shares in Infosys at 4 months old!!! This is D3M - 0 - CID3!!
