How could she not be with that incredible voice, and that three jean sizes too small tight sound backing her up? A couple of fun side facts: the lead guitarist, Neil Giraldo, is Pat's husband and her songwriting partner. 39 years married now, and they still perform together. Pat Benatar, one of the great trailblazers for women in music. No offense meant to Whitney Houston fans, but it was a stone-cold CRIME that she was bumped from induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year with an out of nowhere, last-minute insertion of Whitney into the Hall. A CRIME! Because without Pat Benatar, Whitney would *not* have had her career. Benatar opened doors that later female musicians walked through to their own success.

Halestorm started out right down the road from me. I’ve been following their rise since the beginning. Lzzy Hale has that classic female rock voice you just don’t hear anymore.

THIS! I'm a fan of older rock, and Halestorm is one of the only rock bands from the post-2000 era that i'll actually listen to. Please check out some Halestorm!

Pat Benatar's Husband graduated from my High School and his parents lived in our town. Neil and Pat would visit and be seen just hanging around. It was cool as people respected them and let them just live thier lives. They were both very nice and maybe because of not being bothered would say hello.

I saw her in concert around 81 (?) and she wore a green Peter Pan outfit and was awesome that night. She was top notch.

For Female Friday, try "Brass in Pocket" by the Pretenders, whose lead singer was Chrissie Hynde. More of mellow rock, but still good.

Middle of the Road is a great song of theirs as well.

The kicker on her voice is she said in an interview she never warms up. She just comes out and sings. She recognized how rare it is that someone can do that.

She has such a great voice. It's outstanding in this song. I remember when she broke into the scene. Her transition from head voice (high) to chest voice (the lower) is a classic example of perfection.

I am so glad you are discovering one of the greatest voices in rock. She has no match as far as I'm concerned. She now opens the door for so many contemporary singers, and they owe her a hell of a debt. I grew up listening to Pat Benatar and many others of her generation back then. I was a teenager during the 80s, so I'm thankful I could experience all of this growing up. I'm so glad you are discovering what actual singing is and what true rock and roll is keep it up. Promises in the dark is another one of my all-time favorites of hers. I think it shows her vocal range probably the best.

Something I love about videos and music from back then is it is genuine and real and not auto-tuned. When you saw them live they sound just like the studio versions. They actually have vocal skills unlike many artists these days.

Thanks so much for covering this song, guys! It's probably my favorite PB song. Others who commented previously that "Love is a Battlefield" is not really typical of Pat's overall style are correct. What you heard here is more akin to the majority of her work. Sidenote: Those harmonies are all her. She performed in musical theatre and trained in opera for years before making a sharp turn to rock. Sidenote 2: That lead guitarist (in the royal blue shirt) is her husband, Neil Giraldo. They've been married for close to 40 years.

She was one of my favorite rockers in the 80s. She does a cover on one of her albums of Kate Bush’s song called Wuthering Heights and it really shows off her beautiful voice. It’s not really a rock song I don’t think but it’s still a beautiful song and I guarantee you’ll love her voice in it.
