Just happened to find this channel searching for media analysis video essays, as one does, and after watching a few of your videos, i saw this one pop up. I gravitate towards horror naturally, and halloween is a time of abundance for the scare seeker. I might be remembering it with rose colored glasses, but i recall coming away from a movie, simply titled The Monster, confident that it was the perfect distillation of its subgenre. Maybe i'll check it out again for halloween, see if i'm even remembering the right movie. Anyways, good channel mate, wish you the best.

My husband and I have been watching a ton of horror movies leading up to Halloween. One of our very favorites is The Shining. We will be attending our Halloween festivities dressed as Jack and Wendy Torrence - complete with the iconic busted-open door. Tonight we go to a spooky pipe organ concert at our church (in a gorgeous French Gothic cathedral) and tomorrow is a big party with friends. We don’t really get Trick-Or-Treaters, since we live in a back house, but I made little Halloween buckets of candy and small toys for our neighbors’ kids. Happy Halloween to all who celebrate! 🎃 Also, love this video and your channel as a whole. You are so thoughtful and interesting, and you have a very nice speaking voice.

Happy Halloween!!! i love your videos, they’re never too cynical or negative. my favorite scary movie, one that actually scares me, is Ju-On The Grudge (the original). Its so captivating but also terrifying, and when I first saw it I have nightmares for weeks. Kayako pulling her victim under the covers was immensely haunting. I’m dressed up as her for Halloween right now!

Honestly I don't do too much film and TV watching. However, since I've gotten into them I've been blasting Rob Zombie, Cannibal Corpse, and Ice Nine Kills every spookymonth. My favourite scary movie isn't really a movie, it's a music video; specifically Cannibal Corpse's "Inhumane Harvest". Everything about it is terrifying and visceral and it holds as the only music video in general I am not able to watch all the way through most of the time.

On Halloween itself we watched the Silent Hill movie and Sweeney Todd, but the bigger tradition for me is doing a marathon in my discord server. We have a couple that we watch every year, and the rest change annually cuz they're chosen by poll. This year the lineup was Nightmare Before Christmas, Scary Movie, The Addams Family, Alien, The Last Voyage of the Demeter (one of my new favs tbh), and Rocky Horror

I really like the testimonials section in the latter half of the video. As usual, the editing & flow of the video is 10/10 We're post-Halloween but one of my favorite scary movies to come out recently was 2021's Barbarian. One of my favorite genres of horror are the ones where it's mundane. There's no supernatural force at play, there's no aliens, it's really just a human at the end of the day. Not to get cringy with Supernatural references, but man truly is the scariest monster. Classics like Silence of the Lambs & "Home" episode of The X-Files are my bread and butter

I took my sister trick or treating this year, it wasn't as fun as before because it isn't as active in my neighborhood than how it was a few years ago. But I had fun because Turner Classic Movies was playing many of the classic universal monster films, and at midnight Night of the Living Dead is coming on, so I am set for the night.

I rewatch all the Halloween episodes of various Nicktoons (e.g. Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Angry Beavers) around this time. I usually find some spooky show or movie to watch as well. Last year I watched Over the Garden Wall (excellent show), this year it’s Agatha All Along, a new Marvel show with some surprisingly good writing and real bite to it. It’s not horror per se, but it’s got its moments.
