"Ordinary World" is considered by Musical critics to be the greatest song Duran Duran has ever written. This song reached #1 on the US Billboard Top 40 Chart and was a Top 5 Hit Song in 10 other Countries worldwide. Opera singer Luciano Pavarotti was so impressed that he did a Duet with Lead Singer Simon Lebon for a live War Child benefit concert in Italy seen by Millions across the World.

This one comes from the heart, and is probably the song of theirs most most people can relate to. If almost any other band had created this masterpiece then it would without any doubt be considered their magnum opus, but this is Duran Duran, and they've had other absolute bangers that are at least equally as great as this. Such a legendary band.

Duran Duran is a great band, with a lot of different styles. This is one of their "quieter" songs, but it's a great one. Another softer song that is excellent is 'Save a Prayer". "Hungry Like a Wolf", "The Reflex", and "Notorious" are some staples. Keep up the great work! Simon LeBon is their lead singer.

Grief Counselors can save a life using this song as therapy for a patient who lost somebody and the world they created together. I lost my wife in 2019 and "our world" died with her. I never appreciated Duran Duran till two years later when this song broke through the grief that was killing me. "Ordinary World" delivered the message I couldn't receive from others who tried to help me. It's a special song that had to be incredibly difficult for Simon LeBon to write and sing without breaking down.

So good, great reaction. Biggest band in the 80’s massive. Great song. Simon LeBon - one of the smoothest cats to ever come out of the 80s! There’s more where that came from. These guys were chart toppers. They even did a Theme song for a James Bond movie. Roger Taylor was a big part of the band too. He was producer for some bands, wrote a lot of music.

@billw7152 жыл бұрын
@@charliegeorge9393 Perhaps. Know that Duran Duran's Roger Taylor does not write music for other artists or produce other bands. He's performed with Arcadia, The Power Station and with Duran Duran when he wasn't in the band- during his interim after he left the band and then rejoined the band. He was also in an electronic dance band called Freebass in 1997-1998 with Marco Silver. Roger Taylor also DJ''d back then and has since he rejoined Duran Duran on occasion.

I saw them at Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Ohio the night Michael Hutchence of INXS committed suicide. Their last encore song was “Ordinary World” dedicated to Michael. Duran Duran brought the house down with this tribute. Sometimes, we forget that even those we think have it all in their life just seek that peace that eludes some of us. Great reaction.
@robtaylor55502 жыл бұрын
Some might know, some might not, but Duran Duran has a song called Michael, You've Got a Lot to Answer For that was written by Simon Le Bon for his friend, Michael Hutchence. It's from their Medazzaland LP which released shortly before Hutchence's death. Beautiful song, but also strangely prophetic and a little eerie to listen to. Worth checking out for those who are unfamiliar with it.

@robtaylor5550 Жыл бұрын
@@kilgoretrout3966 That's a difficult question to answer. No question the song is sad, and especially so given Michael's subsequent death, but I've always found beauty in the message. I could see it being painful, but in a strange way, maybe a little bit healing, too? Certainly among Le Bon's most personal and direct lyrics, clearly intended for Michael, but released unto the world where anyone could hear. There's power in what seems a genuine and heartfelt attempt to reach a friend who's clearly struggling.
