Careless Memories is more rock than new wave, IMO. So is New Religion.

I played this song every night for about 6 months after my husband died...something cathartic about it, even though I know the real meaning of the song is nothing to do with the death of a loved one.
@suzannecorona60982 жыл бұрын
Actually it is, it's about Simon's childhood friend who dies in his 20's from a drug overdose 😢 he wrote 3 songs total about this experience to help him through it.

Only underrated by those that don't know music! ;-) He's highly regarded by those in the industry. John Taylor should definitely be in any 'top bass player' list. What's really amazing is that his 'plucky' bass line in Rio was recorded only about 3 years after he started to learn how to play the bass. Mostly self-taught. He actually started playing the guitar, but fell for the funky groves of the bass.

I just love this whole concert. It was done much later in their careers, but Simon's voice sounds great, the instruments are tight and best of all, original member Andy Taylor was on lead guitar! This is the best line-up as far as I'm concerned. When the original five get together, it's magic. This song came out in the early 90's when Andy was out of the band, but he plays it like he wrote it. Just great musicians all the way around.

It was so awesome when this song came out because, except for their hardcore fans, I’m sure everyone had forgotten about Duran Duran by 1992.

The singer Simon Le Bon wrote this song about a close friend who passed away and he was missing. 'Le Bon noted the song lyrics are about "trying to get over the death of a best friend. And putting it into words freed me, absolutely. It really worked for me emotionally and mentally. Everyone who heard it could apply it to something in their life, but for a different reason."' Love the song but I like it even more with Warren Cuccurullo (who composed the guitar part) on guitar. Look for the music video for the studio version of the song... beautiful!
@billw7152 жыл бұрын
The song was written by all the four members of Duran Duran at the time, and they all wrote their parts relative to their instruments played. Simon wrote the lyrics and the melodies.

I can't begin to tell you how much I loved Duran Duran. Of course Simon LeBon was sexy as heck, but I was IN LOVE with the drummer Roger Taylor. Thanks for reacting. I like when you do this sort of stuff. I end up scrolling a lot through your stuff to find it. Most of it isn't my thing, but that's on ME not YOU. We all have different tastes, and yours are just as legit as mine. But when you do this sort of thing, you will definitely get a view and a "Like" from me. I really enjoy the other 2 from your band too. And I love the blue lipz

Simon Le Bon isn't much of a dancer, and is a very good vocalist, but it's his charisma that DOES IT. And sexy & good looking (but that's 13-year-old me talking). My favorite DD song is, by a mile, is Secret Oktober. Very different than their other songs. Kind of experimental & moody.

I was oblivious to how great and poignant this song is until not very long ago. I've always enjoyed a few of their songs, but never fully realized how good this one was until now. Anyone that's lost a loved one or a loved friend, especially as a tragedy to them, will relate deeply. "Where is my friend when i need you most ?"

What is there to be embarrassed about? Have some confidence. Duran Duran is one of the best bands in the world. Not many musicians have their catalog of great songs. Not many musicians continue to be an inspiration and a driving force in pop culture and not many bands are as innovative and influential in the music industry as Duran Duran. Not many bands cross the glove with their music either and not many musicians get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

At certain parts of this song tonight, I was rubbing up against the my front door frame... Every part of my body. I am a very heterosexual man... Have tried the other side...no! I am liking the ladies... Still this makes me feel gay like the ladies like a gay man... I can play that way n not mean it.... Some know what I said. I hunt ladies. I make good friends with this song, not lovers. That's fine cause I think i found my lover too... My lady.
