We made a game in Unity. How are we affected?

Don't bother with all this yet, a lot will change with the enormous amount of backlash. So for now I suggest keep concentrating on your next game (and keep making dev logs! Love them :))

If you still trust Unity to do the right thing at this point, you're being naive. They showed their true colors. Even if they walk all this BS back entirely now, you can be damn well sure that they will do similar stuff again in the future. As long as Riticiello is CEO, this is not gonna change. So, it IS the prudent thing to do now to start switching to another engine.

Absolutely loves The pedestrian, lucky that you guys moved to unreal lol, haven't yet finished the video but still excited non the less for your next game, and hope that you all arn't charged too much

It’s not cancel culture - it’s a business decision for the developers and if it makes business sense to remain on Unity. Since this has been such a poor decision on Unity’s part, there’s a predictable future for the company to continue to make more poor decisions.

they have now come out saying there will be a roof where it will turn to 4% can't remember what tho. the worst bit is how they have turned to explain themselves and contradicted themselves

The management of Unity got confused between "gamers" and "game makers" whereby gamers will put up with almost any shit thrown their way on their favourite games while game makers have choice. Basically Unity hates the fact their share price is stuck at the $30 mark and are desperate to jack up their revenue, so that they can get their share-performance related bonuses. Its pretty easy to understand why they wanted to do this.
