My dad has been wanting a rooftop tent for a long time, and I have one that I never use, so I told him he could have it. Now the two of us could have easily picked it up and set it on the truck, but what fin would that be!
Be sure to check out our Patreon project where we use whatever it brings in in a month as our budget to help someone the following month! I was never a fan of the Patreon idea until I realized that I can use it to help others instead of myself, so I created the Patreon Project where we can all combine our efforts to make a real difference in people's lives and make the world a better place! For as little as a dollar a month you can join the group of awesome people already on board and be vote to help steer the ship along the way!

Man,Casey seems like a decent,knowledgeable guy,but I've seen him talk down to people way too many times man. Especially on a recovery when an older guy was told,u can't fit past me,u have to back down the road. Which caused an issue because you don't talk to people like that. U just ask,instead of tell. Anyways,I can't watch this doofus anymore,enjoy!!

Oh, so you want someone who’s full of shit and hides how they really feel so they can play fake nice on KZbin?? Too bad so sad, you’re not going to find that here! I’m a real person who has good days and bad days, happy times and pissed off times, just like every other human on this planet. The only difference is that I don’t hide it and try to pretend like everything is always hunky dory and that every viewer has a wonderful and valid opinion just so that I don’t possibly upset anyone and cause them to leave my channel. My philosophy is more along the lines of…. Don’t like it?? Good for you, go find another channel to watch.

Its always good to practise. You can spot things you need to address, like greasing the snatch block for smooth haulback or using the truck controls instead of the remote winch controller. Great seeing your Dad again Casey. Thanks for the video.

Your overly exaggerated use of equipment and simplistic explanation of said process it by far more enjoyable than the average snatch and grab. To help Dad and "Man Splane" a process all in one ,money.

How often do we get to see something out of a logging channel on the tube, mixed in with (at least mine) our favorite heavy recovery wrecker, showing us yet another way that the wrecker can be put into service for a rescue or recovery. And we get to see Dad and Rusty as a bonus. Seems like a pretty good way to start a Tuesday off to me!

Reminds me of something. I used my 96 Dodge cummins truck and my enclosed car trailer to haul my riding lawnmower to my son’s house to mow his lawn. The neighbor who is a car guy came out and asked what’s in the trailer? I opened the door and said my lawnmower. He had the WTF look. I laughed. 😂

Thanks for all the good content. In situations where a wire is stretched between two points, and a force 90 degrees to the wire is applied to the midpoint of the wire, there is a tremendous mechanical advantage in the direction of each end of the wire. This would suggest that you need to be very careful of how much load you try to lift this way, especially if the top wire is horizontal.
@CaseyLaDelle
@CaseyLaDelle 6 ай бұрын
Correct
@jsjs6751
@jsjs6751 6 ай бұрын
You will never be able to make it 90 degrees flat line since you would need infinite pulling force. Even at 85 degrees, the pulling force in both ends is 574% the lifting weight.

Also in situations where you have a wrecker at both ends, you can run a third line (from, in this setup, the smaller wrecker) to a second snatch block (hanging directly under the first) in order to be able to reach lower down, directly. This could be done where the main line is above trees and would not freely drop low enough. The third line hanging directly downward allows it to hang between trees nearby. The situation has to be right, and its a tad more complex, but it works! Could be used where someone has driven off a windy road into trees for example and you can get vehicles directly opposite each other..

These winches (and most others) are not man rated. They don't have the safety locks that would prevent accident. Its one thing in a life or death situation, another for random joy rides. Don't shake hands with danger. There are some really horrific antenna climber related falls from 200 feet. I'm specificly not saying I think Casey's equipment, which is well maintained, would have any issue, but everything breaks at the weakest point.

Cool trick. I was thinking about getting the straps out after sitting it on the truck but it wasn't an issue the way it was placed and wasn't heavy anyway. We owned a monument company for many years and when a stone weighted too much to set on 3/4" wood to get the straps out then use a pry bar on the end to get the wood out, like most all stones, we would put some bags of ice under it, pull out the straps, the ice would melt and it would set down on it's foundation. We would come back and trim the setting compound later. Unrelated but still one way to solve a strap problem.
