I've been line striping for over five years now, there is a big learning curve to it, it's not as easy as it looks. My biggest tip, make sure you strain your paint
@pcwelds97852 жыл бұрын
Do you thin the paint down with paint thinner or just strain it?
@NoName-be5ir Жыл бұрын
@@pcwelds9785 just strain it. With latex I’ve never thinned the paint. What I do when I’m using several 5 of paint is to put a 5 gallon strainer in a 5 gallon bucket. Pull the strainer ban down so it raises the bottom of the strainer 4-5 inches off the bottom of the bucket. Run tape around it to hold it in place. Then cut a 3 inch slit up towards the rim of the bucket to put your suction hose in. Suction hose the sit on bottom of bucket but under strainer. Then as you need paint just pour into your buck and it strains it before it goes into your rig. I always keep a lid on aswell. Help to keep paint from skimming

I'm thinking of getting into it. It can't be harder than P. washing as that takes years of experience to get good at it. Plus there is sooooo much liability in it. I'm thinking there can't be as much liability in painting

I’m a house painter and not sure the type of material your using for the stripes but if your tip in the gun is clogging a lot try getting a five gallon paint strainer and run the paint thru this first. It will pull any garbage that’s in the paint out and your tip won’t clog as much. Hope that helps out.

Hey Justin. This is Todd Hillberry with Hydro-Line Exterior Services in Madisonville. I took Billy Davidson's Line Striping Course and learned a lot. If you haven't taken it, I highly recommend it. I ran into the same problem with having a wheelchair stencil that was too big for the existing one. Mine is from Asphalt Kingdom. Paint a blue box the same size as the outside dimensions of the stencil. Let it dry then paint the wheelchair using white or yellow, depending on the other lines in the parking lot. Much quicker than outlining the existing one with tape.

I don't know if anyone else has addressed this, but you're using the wrong machine for pavement work. That is designed for field striping, and a different type of paint. Step up to the very minimum of a Graco 3400 or Titan 3500 at the very least

Know of any suppliers of disposable stencils? I'm new to the game and I find there are some real benefits of using stencils but the cleanup after every couple of uses on the job makes it almost not worth it. I'm doing a pedestrian crossing at the moment and the time to clean the stencils compared to the actual spray time is killing me. I want some cardboard or similar stencils that you used once or twice then throw away.

Just started learning about striping a few months ago but my greatest challenge right now is contacting or finding clients. I've been emailing real estate agents who have commercial property for either sale or lease but I can't get a response let alone a yes. If I can please get tips on how to contact the right people so I can score my first job that'll be great! Happy striping everyone

You need to get hooked up with a asphalt company that paves or seal-coats. You’ll have a very hard time going door to door to find clients. A lot of customers want more than striping. Been doing this for a lot of years.

Striping is easy money! In my area we usually charge 40-50 cents per linear foot for white or yellow paint and 30-40 dollars per handicap logo! Keep in mind every time you change colors you have to clean out the machine so you're going to want to charge a little more if it's a multi colored area. A bare minimum off 300 for each job! My machine I use about 2500 psi for pressure and the lines come out clean. Also I use a water based paint. It's a little thinner so it doesn't clog the tip too much but it does happen WHICH IS WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO CLEAN YOUR MACHINE THOUROGHLY AFTER EVERY USE. Take it from me the amount of errors we have made 😂best of luck to you boys!
@thomascarter24882 жыл бұрын
Here in Oklahoma a charge $10 A-line for a 100 or less lines $8 a 100 or more and $50 per handicap
@tonysanchez61392 жыл бұрын
@@thomascarter2488 Yeah that sounds not too far off from us. I'm in Texas so depending on the territory prices can vary. At an 18ft line at 50 cents its about 9 dollars and at 40 cents its about 7.20 so that's pretty comparable
