Basically the cashew brittle bits are just fine but had to be recalled due to undeclared peanuts. So if you're not allergic to peanuts there is nothing wrong with these brittle bits.

The recall was for cashew brittle bits due to undeclared peanuts and thanks to the early warning we got from alert customer, Kim C., only 15 bags were sold. The rest were pulled from the shelf and destroyed. I know it's sad that they had to be destroyed, but that is New York state law. Here in Brazil there's a candy very similar to brittle. It's called "pé de moleque" (in translation boy's foot). I think the big difference is that we just make the peanut version and it's very hard due to baking soda not being added to the hard candy mixture, other than that I think there is more peanut in the batch to make it easier to bite. We also have the "pé de moça" version too (in translation girl's foot) that is a lot more creamier and it's not at all a brittle. I think the mixture is of caramelized condensed milk and peanuts, but i'm not very sure myself.
