I think I have similar feelings. I haven't built a content career out of this game obviously, but this was one of the first fighting games I played halfway seriously. Even then I feel like the, I guess, "SF5 generation" as a whole just hasn't had much staying power for me personally. A while ago I realized that the only game featured as a main game in the last few EVOs I still had installed was Strive. I don't know what it is about me and Strive specifically, but contrary to seemingly everybody else, I feel like Strive has a lot less of what I dislike about its peers, and I'm not sure I can really explain it. Other than that it's "old" games I mainly play now, maybe not *too* old because there's a point where doing basic strings becomes a whole ordeal, but still.

i think the best change that can be made is just a rework to superdash. so when you superdash in neutral (on hit) you get the guard cancel effect (on hit) as to where you bounce off of eachother. that way you dont have to take a full combo for getting SD and people a forced to find a better way in or suffer getting punished

I get where Lotus is coming from. I know I'm not that good, average at best, I admittedly revert to my scrub origins when I'm panicking sometimes, but I've encountered my fair share of matches where I know I'm better than my opponent yet they're able to nab wins over me, and when I do win, it's so much more of an uphill battle than it should've been. I don't wanna be too salty about it so I tell myself afterwards that, if I really was as good as I thought, then I should've won easily, so the fact that I didn't means I'm not that good after all, but I also can't help feel that I lost more to some bullshit rather than getting genuinely outplayed (anti-air autocombos correcting and going almost full screen, U-turning superdashes, superdashes at the most random times, mashing even after they just whiffed a move, etc.). Again, I don't wanna be toxic about it, so I do try to make it motivation to get better so I don't lose to the same BS again. I don't think I can hold it against the devs or publishers for catering to a more casual audience; there's undeniably a stigma with fighting games being hard to get into, so with the aim of increasing sales, it makes sense they'd want to lower the barrier for entry. It's not strictly a _bad_ thing, but like Lotus said, the risk-reward for being able to just go wild has to be adjusted accordingly. If an autocombo has massive reach with defensive properties (e.g., Gogeta 4 or Goku Black 5LLL), then it should have worse scaling to balance out its ease of use; as it stands, they're actually some of the best TOD starters because they scale like mediums. Additionally, it needs to be much more punishable, or lose its self-correcting properties.

Out of all the "current" fighting games the only game that keeps my attention in any way is Tekken 7 - and by extension probably Tekken 8 when it releases (Yay legacy games). Just not really feeling most the "modern" type games. I'm all for making the genre more accessible and smoothing out learning curve but I dont know, SF6/Strive/DNF etc etc just haven't had any staying power for me, same with DBZF on this patch. Anyway back to playing USF4, BBCF and T7 for me while I wait for T8.

DBFZ has always catered to that playstyle, it's just more blatant now. As long as you mash, be random and RQ when you match up somebody better, you can rank up quick. Unfortunately, that playstyle won't get you far, but I don't think most players even care about that. At one point Hyde_Gackt was the number 1 PS player and had this exact game plan.

Nah the most toxic community (and I’ve played Riot Games, to Activision, and every fighting game) is by far Dead By Daylight. Nah I win as killer? Death threats. I lose? Death threats. I’m on a team with survivors and even if we win someone will got something to say. We lose? Same thing. That game I refuse to touch if I ain’t with friends. I’ll play every other game because muting works but in Dead By Daylight somehow someway I’ll get hit with some toxicity. That ain’t even mentioning shit that happens during the match.
