We Made Some Noise Today, Not the Phantom Though

Welcome back everyone! Mixed it up a little today, and certainly made the best out of this day. I had to work that morning so Jack graciously took up the GoPro! Rick, Jerod, and crew had a busy day over at the Vietnam War Flight Museum, and we got to fire up the Me-262 in anticipation for her upcoming airshow appearance in Tyler, Texas.

The engine pods are identical to the originals, just the engine itself is more modern. GE CJ-610 engines, similar to what was used on early Lear Jets, and is also the engine core for the afterburning version (GE J85) used in the F-5.

Sure would like to see an original 262 engine with the chainsaw motor with pull starter run. I know “unobtanium”. When I was stationed in Germany, the Frankfurt airport had one on static display. Pretty nice to see one run though. You guys keep rockin.

Do the newer engines give the plane a performance boost? What are the specs for the 262 as it stands?

The 610's have more thrust than the Jumo 004's would have had. Don't have exact numbers as I don't know the specific model of the 610's. Performance wise, I think she's slightly faster than an original. No less thirsty though, flight endurance is roughly the same as an original.
