Another great video by you guys! I saw one boar 3 days before the season opened, after that 8 sows with 2 cubs each, all different bears. 7 big sows, ond pretty small, bug shr had two tiny cubs in tow. Cool video, elk and bears!

Plenty of studies have shown that a bear cub this far long into the season will survive without the sow. Would have been legal to shoot, ethically that’s up to you. I have no problem with it in this state, and wish people would do a little more predator management. We already lost the spring bear season. Just my $.02

I wouldn’t shoot it. The cubs might survive but that’s not the point. The sow would know what’s best for the cubs and their survival. The sow would have separate herself from them already. That how the good Lord intended whether we like it or not. Good call.

I don’t remember if it was Oregon or Washington law but one says the cub must be 75 lbs or larger to be able to shoot it or the sow. I could be wrong though.

@randysmith8604 I believe that is an Oregon law. Washington State regs state “HUNTERS ARE URGED TO NOT SHOOT A FEMALE WITH CUBS.”

Thay sow was running her cub from a boar. The way she was looking and leading the cub. A boar will kill a cub.

Really appreciate your videos. Those all looked to be this years cubs 60-90 lbs which is consistent with the age. Hard to pass up, given the state of Washington's bear management plan....but I think you did the right thing. It sucks that Washington state puts hunters in the situation to even consider killing sows.....but it is rapidly getting to that point if we want to preserve our ungulate populations. Damn our fish and game commission and their anti hunting agenda.

Definitely a Sow with cubs. You made a bad choice by telling him to shoot. We all make mistakes, just have to learn from them. Good job on not taking them. Go back and get em next year.
