The way the sheets are is so they are easier to take off to wash also flat sheets can be pressed instead of ironed as they are only 1 layer and also easier to put on, it’s how they do it in hospitals too as it’s more efficient.

Sheets have been like that for awhile, i first really noticed it when i was in Hawaii 7 years ago... I assumed it was because the hotels don't wash the duvet (between every guest) and they don't want to keep putting covers on the duvet (because we ALL hate doing that) so they use 2 sheets?

hahaha, that hotel bed sheet thing, is a old fashioned way of making the bed. my grandparents in the kingdom of the Netherlands have it like that too. and back in the day they did the double sheet because the sheet was made of wool and the double thin sheet prevented you to get wool in your mouth and face that was going to tickle you.....

Hello!! To comment on your question about the hotels bedding. I work at a hotel and I make the beds with the 2 sheets and the comforter. And they have always done that. But I had the same realization as you. Every time I go to a hotel I’m like “oh they do this too” lol

For the duvet, sometimes some hotels do that because it is easier to clean/more affordable, and/or if there aren’t any duvets, they use that sheet method instead. (lol I was a housekeeper for a summer and learned that trick).
