I’ve had 2 cornea transplants that have failed completely blind in right eye and left eye had transplant 15 years ago which is failing. But I’m so grateful for the amazing shots and work you put out. 90% of the time I don’t like sponsored posts because when I’m on Instagram I don’t care to see advertisements/brand deals so I just scroll past. I like posts that don’t take much effort such as just a snapshot of what you did during the day. And a lot of the time some brand deals don’t sound authentic.

I always like your ads, but I think they show up less also because I often miss when you post them and see them several days later!

For me, brand deals are relentless. I completely get that they are a source of income for people and my aversion to them is rarely to do with the individual brand or even influencer. My issue is with where we are with advertising now, it's everywhere. On your commute to and from work, on the sidebar or popups on a website, on the cover screen of a kindle, before a youtube video, or between a playlist, and if you want to minimise their presence, be prepared to pay. Sometimes we need a pause on the stimulus. When I'm scrolling through Instagram, it's usually during some form of break in the day and I'm using it as a break. I don't want to be sold anything in that moment. Even if it is a lovely picture and from a creator I like, at its core its targeting consumers. I didn't sign up to creators for them to sell me stuff, its usually to be inspired and motivated - outside of consumerism. So in not liking, it's trying to regain some of that space. No hate just my thoughts x

My thing with brand deals is that they often don't seem natural. I think you, as creators, see things differently than we, the consumers. I do not mind supporting ADs at all...Zoe did the Mini ads and I think it's great because we all know she loves them. Another influencer, however, is working on the same AD deal and she doesn't even own a car or drive. That is disingenuous and that makes me leery of ads in general.

It's not that I necessarily actively avoid liking photos that are ads/sponsored, but I have to say that as a consumer I just get so used to tuning ads/sponsored stuff out unless it's something I like/find relevant to me. They're everywhere, right? Facebook, insta, online newspapers, tv, whatever. If I was gonna pay attention to every ad I see, I'd do nothing else. So honestly I'm just used to glossing over ads, and I do it without thinking about it, often. Some people probably really dislike sponsored content, but I think most people realise it's where people get their money and aren't actively hostile towards it. But for me it's just a thing where if it's sponsored and it's not relevant to my interest my brain just tunes it out.

About the sponsored post thing. I wouldn't neccesarily like it either. I am not a person who likes whatever. I tend to like posts that speaks to me in the following ways: 1: Inspiration how to take my own pictures 2: Outfits that I really like 3: Food that looks really yummy 4: A message that speaks to me or 5: Something I find funny og sweet or something like that in the specific moment. I think I tend to click like on sponsored posts less, but it's not because I think people shouldn't do them, cause I actually think It is one of my fave ways to "get ads", because you are real people and not an actor on my TV telling me to buy something. I tend to buy things that the KZbinrs/influencers I follow on Instagram talks about, especially clothing, even if I maybe didn't click like on the sponsored post where they talked about it, and I understand how much work you put in it. But there is also a lot of sponsored stuff that I just dont care about or am interested in. I think one of the main reasons ads dont get as much likes is, yes, because there are ads and some people will just always have a negative feeling with ads. I think the best way, is just to continue to choose brand deals that speaks to your everyday life, and try and make them as "everyday-ish" as you can. If a picture is too "posed" or "set up", thats where people find it to fake :-)

I rarely hit like on Instagram photos, but I do think I'm less likely to like a sponsored post because I don't know how manufactured it is. I know that brand deals often come with requirements of what you have to put in the post, so at the end of the day I have no idea how much of the post is genuine from the creator and how much of it is to simply please the brand. I think I will start to like sponsored posts more often though because brands will probably be more likely to continue working with creators if the content receives more likes.

I think it just has to do with every platform just brainwashing us to want more and to buy more. More more more. I loath commercials because I’m like I don’t need 45 commercials of toilet paper. Hey Alfie, I actually wrote my Bachelor thesis about Influencer Marketing and how sponsored pictures affect the consumer and their behavior. In my thesis, I analyzed different statistics, Data and pictures from Influencer (mainly german-based because I am from Germany ) and in my result, I found out that the majority of Instagram users would like to have a specific declaration when a post is sponsored or not. By having that they can decide on their own in which extent they would like to believe the post. What really affects the like behavior is rather the authenticity and relationship the Follower has with the specific Influencer that is influencing their like behavior. Speaking about your BMW cooperation I would say this fits perfectly to your, your life and what you are usually doing, therefore it is surprising that people do not like it due to the fact that it is sponsored. Maybe that is rather relatable to the fact those people did not realize yet that Instagram, as well as any other Platform, are driven by ads and sponsored postings and that the difference is just that some Influencers do not present it as open. I am super curious about that topic, therefore I would love if you could keep us updated. Keep on doing what you do, Greetings from Germany

We're obviously in a really early stage and it's still really new with influencer marketing but I find it so interesting how people reacted to your question.
