Spent the last three days at Peterborough hospital. They're treating people in the waiting room and corridors. Plenty of nurses sitting or standing around chatting and laughing on the ward while alarms are sounding and wait 4 hours to be discharged. The NHS doesn't have a money problem, it has a people and bureaucracy problem with zero competition while being a cash cow for suppliers.

My blood boils just thinking about Peterborough so-called 'hospital', if you're talking about the main one! Perhaps there are some good nurses there, but I missed them, in the several weeks I spent going back and forth there with my dying mother, who was appallingly neglected by the staff, who sat around chatting together, ignoring buzzers, ignoring patients and haughtily dismissing queries from relatives. Most appalling hospital care I've ever encountered, and I could vent considerably further on the topic! However, back to your main point, I work with a number of ex-NHS nurses, and the stories they tell fully support your point about bureaucracy and waste.

The NHS is stacked full of senior executives on 6 figure salaries There are NHS trusts, Ambulance trusts, local GP surgeries earning multi million pounds a year. We have untold millions of immigrants using the care system and health services they have contributed nothing to We have people travelling from the 4 corners of the world to use maternity services (Badenoch was born under such tourism) or critical care services It is completely broken and unsustainable Go to any other country in the world and you are asked for an ID card or a credit card Here we treat people whether they live here or not

As a retired NHS nurse the money needs to go into social care, the beds in the NHS will then open up. I lost count of the number of patients who on the day of discharge tell the staff they can't go home because of no food, no heat, no district nurse, family they live with are on holiday for the next month, families refusing 10-15 Nursing home options because they aren't next door to them, no available social work etc. Until the social section is sorted no changes will take place in the Hospitals.

NHS bosses should be registered under a professional bodies and held responsible. That very important in ensuring people are made accountable for failings. Funny how corridors were cleared for Starmers visit and so many staff posing for TV cameras. He should have visited a REAL hospital with corridor patients! People's dignity compromised and it is the only time dignity is thrown out the window.

With the NHS, we need to get rid of the high paiod managers, who sit in their expensive offices and do very little for the grassroots of the NHS... To get to the root of the problems, its not the money they get, it's the influx of people pouring into the UK. Having lived in a country with insuranced based health care, I would hate it for over here. I saw a child die, because the insurance company the parents had paid into decided that the Insurance company had pad enough for this illness. She couldn't have any more chemo and sadly died.. We have our problems here but at least we look after our own.

There is a lot of good care and plenty of examples - I recently went for a hospital appointment because I felt a lump under my arm so thought I should get it checked. Dedicated breast ward/clinic - got seen, was told it was my lymph node and should be nothing to worry about. Was told I should have a mammogram and a scan to make sure. These were done in same unit a few minutes later and got the results a few minutes later. Every think ok and how it should be. I was very impressed that it was all in-house and dealt with on same day - same hour actually. There are problems and it is amazing that NHS staff know there will be an increase demand in winter so why not plan for this?

The problem is complex, but it does boil down to simple athrithmatic. If the country is allowing an extra 700,000 people added per year to the UK population, then you will never get ahead of an already crumbling system. It's what is known as a wicked problem........unsolvable.

Those bright car headlights terrified me when I had to cycle back from work on dark winter evenings - they blinded me and it would take two or three seconds for my eyes to recover. Doesn't sound like much, but when you're on a bike on a road with other vehicles, it's a really vulnerable feeling.

I’m in Birmingham Jess Phillips constituency. My kids school all the teachers and dinner ladies are Pakistani, the receptionists at least 3 have strong Pakistani accent. The teachers are related the kids all have cousins- and their mine and a few other kids are isolated.I’m struggling to find work- man in job centre has a strong Pakistani accent. Takeaways in city centre such as KFCall run by people with Pakistani accent even my landlord. How is this possible? I genuinely don’t care about ethnicity, I do however care about justice. My husband is from another country. It’s just him, he has no family here the visas are impossible- my kids have never seen their grandparents, and yet this area is full of immigrant families. It’s so isolating. I would love someone to look into how. My daughter can’t get a job for 2 years she’s been looking- it’s impossible. It’s no longer on merit it’s who you know.and as for Jess she has no choice in what she does because she will lose her seat

In Ireland we can choose between public health care (HSE) or private healthcare/private hospitals eg. Blackrock clinic, The Beacon, Vincent’s Private. Everyone can avail of the public health system but generally people with private health Insurance opt for private healthcare. 47% of people use private healthcare in Ireland.

The son needs to refuse to buy what is on offer. Most people volunteer to partake of illicit substances. Very few are forced to partake. Blaming the substances and the people who retail them is just allowing the users to avoid accountability for decisions they made. If you give money for narcotics or a place on a dinghy crossing the channel, you are just as culpable as the evil dealers or smuggling gangs that will be vilified and blamed and their customers will be labelled as victims to absolve them of any accountability for their actions.

i worry though if we privatise the health service health company's will put profit before the health service they provide just look at the water authority's for example millions of pounds of profit paid out to share holders whilst very little investment put into sorting out pollution of our rivers. we need more hospitals which we had in the old days with community hospitals but they've been closed down over the years and now were in trouble
