WE MOVED to a bus yard | Hunting for our donor bus

We moved to Texas where we found a donor bus for our transmission swap for our school bus conversion. Unfortunately, there are tons of buses in the way of our donor. Follow with us this week in the life of a bus scrap yard worker

heared that wheelnuts have some added worth to them as there made of a tougher metal , saw a tv show on discovery and the owner made a real efford to safe these wheelnuts to sell for scrap seperately for that reason about being in the scrapyard full of busses : there some other upgrades you can do to youre own bus , like closing the gap between the rearbumper and the bus body , you can cut up two simulair busbumpers so you have the middle pieces in between the corners and add those to the corners of the bumper on youre bus to close the gap on each end if you where planning on filling in some of the buswindows you have enough straight sheetmetal around you to do it for a verry low price same with changing or adding an entrance to the side of youre bus or making the rear exit taller you could add a few of the rubrails from the other busses too maibe look if one of them has a webasto diesel heater unit in it , these are nice to have on cold days same with a retarder or jake brake (saves youre normal brakes on long downhill runs ) and cruisecontroll , not normal stuff you find on schoolbusses but you might find it at the place youre at right now save a few switches a set of stalks for indicators , lights and wipers , maibe a wipermotor , lightunits , airbrake parts , hoses , relays and fuses stuff that dont take up a lot of space but can break and can cost a lot of money and time (waiting on the part) to replace

Didn’t know that about those studs being made of a harder metal. 👌🏼 As for all your ideas about being in a scrapyard, we are definitely taking full advantage. We’ve already closed in our windows with sheet metal from the original ceiling of the bus and came to the yard ultimately for a transmission swap. But with a full auto to manual swap and a few other big ticket maintenance items we are already doing to magnolia, I don’t see us making any other additions like Jake brakes and extra rub rails.

We had an automatic and are in the process of converting to a manual. It has definitely been a challenge. A video is sure to come if we can get it to work!
