Hi, we have a at545 transmission on a 29ft long schoolbus, cat 3126 engine, thomas built bus with a freightliner chasis, dog nose, i overheat the at545 way to much ~300degree going uphill and we just had a rebuilt put in cause the other one broke down. So, lets go safe we think, its our home. My questions is you talked about puting an other cooler, you say go big, do you have a link of this better cooler you would go for it? Thanks a lot for your response and videos, i appreciate highly your help, Also, im a novice, do you think i can add that cooler myself?

As this video was too many years ago, the options I was looking at back then are no longer available. My advice is to search eBay for oil coolers with AN10 fittings. This will ensure your hoses will mate to them. I believe the one I bought was a 15 row, I would opt for something 30 rows are above. Best of luck in your adventures!

South carolina had plenty mid size flat nose rear engine buses rhey just took off road. I see a lot of fs65 at some district lots rotting away. Maybe they will sale them before they scrap them. But south carolina has recently updated they fleet so its a lot of busses they just parked. My favorite is the 88 international bluebird . Yes we were still using them 2020😂. They just won't stop and easy to fix

Wow! Very cool to hear, it’s been over a year since this video was put out and we have still yet to see a mid size pusher! Bummer they are just sitting, we have already gotten to the point here in Texas where no school districts are running first or second generation internationals. FS65’s are nearly all retired here as well. Very soon we will be seeing a shortage of these pre emissions buses😢 I love the first gen internationals! Very hard to stop them from running. These newer buses these days aren’t even seeing their full life expectancy :(

I enjoyed a lot of the info you gave out. I've been doing my research for the past several years to prepare me for the leap I'll be making within the next year. Your below the snow line for rust free buses confused me a bit. The entire Coastal Georgia area is above that line. We rarely see snow & if we do, it either doesn't stick or melts in an hour. Our buses aren't rusty.
@parishskoolie
@parishskoolie Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. We have only seen snow one time in our life’s! For us, anything above i10 we think it snows🤣 We have no real life knowledge of what states see snow😪

@parishskoolie Well, I can tell you Northern Georgia gets the several inches occasionally, but Coastal Georgia freaks when we get any, even if it doesn't stick. 🤣

So... i have a 400hp MONSTER size turbo diesel in a 40' Mainship 25k#. I am getting ZERO boost. The old guy i got it from replaced the 160hp engine. This engine came with dry exhaust manifolds. He put on wet manifolds. My knowledge of engine physics tells me he is sucking all of the heat out of the exhaust charge and the turbo (while spinning freely) isnt spooling up. The marine "rules" say you must have a wet exhaust manifold. My solution is to use the double wall (wet manifild with no water) and wrap it to achive roughly the same thermal result.... and finally get some power and fuel economy. I will probably use mig wire tails as extra ties when i run out of the 10 included with the 50' of wrap. Any thoughts anybody?

if you have a holesaw the size of the flasherholes you could add a fillerpiece on top of the flasher deletes mounted in the back with one or two rivits and some sealant and have the sheetmetal level with the rest makes them a little more invisable when the bus is repainted for verry little extra effort (drilling out the 4 round pieces out of sheetmetal with a holesaw and stick them in the holes )

I have a Brazilian ford 6.6L inline 6 bus with the Ppump style mechanical injection system. I am looking for at least 5 to 10 speed transmission models that would be a similar conversion, because I would love to have an Eaton 10spd in my bus. I drove truck for years but I didn't work on them really, so I'm starting from basic knowledge and a bit of car dealership apprentice experience.

@parishskoolie
@parishskoolie Ай бұрын
Yes, the air leaking is definitely the problem🤣 The air leak isn’t significant enough to fail inspection or give any drivability issues. I have never seen a bus that will hold air pressure while off, over an extended period of time actually.
