Make sure you check out the northern beaches, you can get a ferry from the city to manly. Also places like Chatswood, basically a mini city within sydney

Gday and welcome! Hope you get the absolute most out of this gem of a country. My top tip as a long-term Sydney resident is talk to just about everyone if you can: "Hey how's it going. Are you a local? What do you recommend here? What's a hidden secret of Sydney you'd recommend?" "If you don't mind me asking, what's your background?" "Oh that's awesome, where's the best place to get XXXX [e.g. Nepali/Thai/Korean/Indian/Vietnamese/Turkish etc] food you'd recommend. Works a bloody charm. I keep discovering new and brilliant places, restaurants, and things to do every time and I've been here 40+ years (since childhood). Sydney is 50+ cities in 1. And at least a third of residents (including myself) were born overseas. Ask a local and enjoy the following adventure! Good luck and have fun!

Ferries get cheaper when you use public transport a lot. I think 1 week of public transport is capped at $50 or $60.

@@RootedMate you can't be serious so many beautiful places to choose from the sea to the blue mountains the southern highlands .expensive yes so is all Australia. It's clean the air is good the waters aren't polluted mad beaches from the north to the south and the water is warm. You have daggy suburbs and awesome ones as well .

@@gordo191 Nah I've lived in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Darwin, Canberra and Brisbane and the two worse are Sydney and Melbourne, I prefer Sydney over Melbourne though. All depends what your personal vibe is, when I lived in Sydney (twice) I lived in Blakehurst and Waterloo, too hectic and busy for me.
