We Need Another Wii Sports

The Wii was the first game console I ever owned, not counting the family computer. And I loved that thing. It was a weird introduction to gaming, and the games definitely varied greatly in quality, but overall, it was a wonderful first step. And though I loved many games for that peculiar console, one stands out as I look back. A game that I have many amazing memories with, whether I was laughing with my family, or trying to resist hucking the controller at my brother. Of course, I’m talking about Wii Sports Resort, the new and improved successor to Wii Sports.
Today, we're discussing why we need another Wii Sports in 2020, one that can utilize the Switch to its fully potential, and bring joy to families everywhere.

I think an important part of a sequel or remaster would be to fix the scaling, a lot of things are either way too big or way too small. I also would love to see more options such as weather and season. I know that Wuhu Island is supposed to be tropical but it would look pretty cool in the snow, and I would LOVE to see the island while it rains.

The closest thing we have to wii sports resort on the switch is ‘go vacation’ which is a port of the game from the wii. Go vacation is still a good game and is open world and although I spent hours playing go vacation on my wii as a child it still just doesn’t have the charm that wii sports resort has.

New theory, Wuhu Island is Isle Delfino after it was taken over by evolved humans from the metro kingdom. In Mario kart Wii there are many miis on the coconut mall track, which is pretty obviously on Isle Delfino. Also the layout of delfino plaza in super mario sunshine is similar to the layout of wuhu town. Make Wuhu would be Corona mountain. Maybe wedge island could have been the theme park from sunshine, it's far enough from wuhu island for that to be true.

We really need this. Exploring the island made me feel . And when they released Pilotwings for 3ds it feels like the best thing ever. I don't play many games with my family except Mario Party because they don't have interest in them or because they don't know how to play. I will be another Wii Sports series (or Wii Party/Wii Music/Wii Play) without a doubt. We have Rig Fit Adventure that is like a sequel of Wii Fit, so I have hope!

Honestly Wii and specifically Wii Sports Resort is so magical because of its never-aging. For a bit of background i was born in '05, and while I didn't own a Wii, a lot of my friends and family did, so I got to play it and make some great memories from it. And now I have a PS4. Anyways; a while ago I was staying at an AirB&B and they had a PS3. And because we were in the middle of nowhere, and there was nothing else to do I coughed my way through the dusty closet and booted it up. I put in the only game they had (MW3 I think), and everything about it just felt ancient. The controller, the console, the game itself; they were all so bad in comparison that it just didn't feel good to play it. But then, while I was looking for the switch box in the garage I spotted a Wii. I picked it up and plugged it into the TV, and the Wii Sports Resort disc was already in there. And not only does it get nostalgia points because I have great memories of it as a kid, but it also holds up with time. Unlike CoD who was trying to be realistic and have great graphics, the Mii's cartoonish design means it'll never look bad. And most importantly of all it's still fun. Obviously it's not as good as the switch, but with a combination of being a great game and nostalgia, it remains a great game and a great console, and it always will be, just like arcade games. Suffice to say the week in rural Ireland went by much more quickly.

I freaking loved this game. Thank you so much for covering this game and showing everyone the masterpiece this is. Also I did play the canoeing mode. It's a bit tiring but its not that bad and can sometimes be entertaining, especially with coop which I did play. The real mode that felt like you couldn't play was dogfight, because you could rarely get 2 players and we always wanted to play it but needed more Wii motion+ controllers (Which i do have atm thankfully with my Wii u, which is how i can even still play the game lmao)

Go vacation is a game like wii sports, but everything you could ever imagine. Multiple areas, secret spots, multiplayer, hidden chests, tons of mini games, an open world, multiple travel options, pets, customizable houses, and more. I used to play that game with my family all the time and all I can say is I don’t remember wii sports even coming close to how much I loved it. I never hear about go vacation which is sad, because it’s such a great game that I think everyone should try with their family and friends at least once in their lifetime.

I would absolutely love to see an all-new sequel to Wii Sports on the Nintendo Switch. Wii Sports has been one of my favorite game franchises of all time, alongside Super Mario and Kirby. If Nintendo were to make an all-new sequel, they should keep the essense of what made it special and update it for a new era while introducing new features to the game. A story mode where you complete various sports to be the ultimate champion of Wuhu Island and the option to change your mii's outfit or mii character design from other games they're featured in (Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games, Miitopia, etc) would be great additions to the new game.

I started playing Wii Sports Resort in 2009. I got three of the stamps in Island Flyover in 2009 and 2010. I recently booted it up last year in 2020 and got the stamp for getting every I point in every time of day. All I have left is the I point for shooting down all the white balloons in every time of day, and then I'll have finally completed a journey I started all the way back in 2009. I think I have about 20 more white balloons to find until I'm done, and I can't wait.

It’s like they got all of the individual sports that were in the original Wii Sports and are selling advanced versions of them as separate games. Think about it: Arms = Advanced Wii Boxing Mario Tennis Aces = Advanced Wii Tennis (now with sit down options and the Mario Gang) Mario Golf Super Rush = Advanced Wii Golf (now with extra modes, sit down options and still the Mario Gang)

I have so many memories of playing wii sports and wii sports resort with my family. I collected every single i point in island flyover.

I owned Wii sports along with a bunch of other games but had a dead Wii. My girlfriend has a WiiU but didn't have Wii Sports. So now we've been playing almost every time I'm over for about a month and it's great. Haven't had this much fun since I was 7 (when I got Wii Sports)

It's called Go Vacation, it runs on Wii and Switch. Pretty fun overall, plus there appears to be some lore to it.
