Talk’s Jeremy Kyle is joined by former Tory MP Jonathan Gullis to discuss the party’s catastrophic General Election results.
The former deputy chairman of the party lost his Stone-on-Trent North seat to Labour’s David Williams.
Jonathan says: “There are a lot of lessons we need to learn”, adding that the party “need to be centre-right”.

Wrote to him several times - points were ignored or just a word salad response saying nothing. Neary 70 conservative voter all my adult life, even worked on many elections, never again. This seat won by Boris and then they crapped all over us. Bye Bye You had 14 years, nearly 5 since Red wall demolition and nothing done!

Sunak did not need to call the election for July, he should have waited for November and let people feel the difference of slowing inflation and bank rates. I think he called it early in an attempt at wrong footing Farage and it has backfired big time.

On the other hand, he may have called it before the summer's illegal migration figures were in and the Rwanda scheme still wasn't working. It's hard to say, but it seems to have taken a lot of Tories by surprise and the campaign was incompetent.

The very fact someone like Gullis got anywhere near government is the reason the Tories got hammered.

Surprised you lost your seat tbh 😮but you need to blame your party and I think they lost on purpose, you made more mistakes in the last 5 years then in Tory history, went from most ruthless, successful party ever to a joke 😮it was deliberate 🙄

Hasn't learnt a single thing. Centre right means making endless concessions to the centre left, when the left never make a single confession to the right, which is why everything has swung to the left on the last 40 years. We need a hard right who will ignore the bleating of the left, civil service ect and drag us back to the real right. No point saying the things wrong with Labour when the Tories have been working hand in hand with Labour for decades. We don't believe the Tories oppose Labour, it's all theatre. They are the same party. More debt, more immigration, more tax, less free speech, more crime, worse services. That's what all three parties have delivered for 40 years, it never gotten any better.

It’s all too late for the Tories - the horse has bolted. The last several years has witnessed multiple failed attempts to resolve our massive domestic problems. Johnson’s three years as PM was a disaster, and left the Tory government and party with almost zero credibility. Sunak talked the talk, but achieved sweet FA. The Tory Party has lost its soul, identity and all sense of political direction. It’s no wonder that over four million ex Tory supporters voted for Reform at the recent election as they wanted a genuine political party which embraced traditional conservative values and principles. The present Tory Party has shifted politically to the woke left, resulting in many of its current MP’s sounding and behaving like Libdems. Reform is the only hope for this country - and their support will continue to grow, leaving an enfeebled Tory Party as an irrelevant political party.

Arrogant ''person''. Starmer is the best news for Reform, his victory is simply a prelude to the creation of a massive people's movement and a viable British Populist Party that will be capable of governing in its own right within the next couple of years
