The way we traditionally bury the dead is horrible for the environment.

The modern way of burying a body, the "casket in the ground method" most of us are used to is horrible for the environment. It uses an incredible amount of resources, emits toxic pollutants into the air, and pumps the ground full of formaldehyde, which is known to cause cancer. It's also prohibitively expensive. The average cost of a modern funeral costs between $10,000 to $12,000.
There are a number of greener options available though. Cremation uses less resources and requires less space than a traditional burial, but isn't perfect. There are more experimental methods on the horizon such as promession and alkaline hydrolysis.
No matter which method we choose, it's clear that we need to reform how we bury the dead.
Also be sure to read Mark Harris's excellent book about green burials www.gravematter...

In my tribe, we just bury the body in the ground with no casket, just naturally and plant a tree to mark the spot. The family takes care of the tree and soon you have a grove dedicated to your ancestors. Pretty cool, nah?!!

As a Muslim, you give the body a ritual bath, wrap them in a white shroud and lay them to rest in a cemetery. The funeral has to be done within the day of death. No embalming, no casket, nothing. Just you and the Earth. It’s to show that, despite what you have in the world, you’re alone and without worldly belongings at the end. And a lesson to the living to be humble about our worldly possessions.

@badgesstripes4402
@badgesstripes4402 5 жыл бұрын
@@shmuelgoldstein9020 You will be amazed, both religions are linked. The history of the Jewish people begins in Bronze Age times in the Middle East when God promised a nomad leader called Abram that he would be the father of a great people if he did as God told him. Jews regard Abraham (as he was later called) as the first Patriarch of the Jewish people. Abraham was the first person to teach the idea that there was only one God; before then, people believed in many gods. Abraham is also extremely important as a leader of Islam and as a patriarch of the Islamic faith. Muslims recognize Abraham as the ancestor through whom many other prophets and saints (Wali) came, including Moses, Jesus (Isa) and Muhammad. So you will find many common things between muslims and jews.

Of course the western world lives in a Christian society. But as far as I understand Christianity it actually not that faithful to make these steps to make your body last longer in its in-life state. It's up to God to resurrect you before final judgment and I'm pretty sure he can do it without chemicals or even without full body, ashes will still be good. I donated my mothers body to science care after she died. It was absolutely free, the company has the most compassionate customer service and after they were done harvesting what they could to save other peoples’ lives, they cremated her for free and delivered the ashes to my door. This was completely free and I’ve never felt anything but grateful for the service they provided my siblings and I. Burying her was out of the question; it costs upwards of 35 grand. Even regular cremation started at 1200 bucks. Science Care. I tell you now it’s the best thing you can do.

When my dad passed we had an “American burial” but we didn’t have him embalmed because we were able to do everything pretty quickly. The only thing that was a problem is that his casket didn’t have a lock on it. Normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but my dad was really into practical jokes and the last thing we needed was for someone to lose their footing, drop him, and it turn into a scene from a movie. 😅
