Miley is such an underrated vocalist. She can go down to a c#2 and go all the way up to an a5. She also has a untrained whistle register. She is also able to do “screaming” rocky edge vocals which most of singers from her generation are unable to do. Miley’s voice is truly unique.

Ok first of all props to Chloe and Hailey (sorry if I spelled it wrong) they are sooo goood. As far as the vocalist of this generation I think Ariana deserves the crown for it , she has the best technique , she can whistle , high belt, mid belt , head voice control , agility and low notes which are newly getting improved . And let’s be honest we are not just judging only the singing but career and music too She is the most popular one out of all of them . I really like all of ‘em. Miley is the second one but her technique is not improved that much . Demi is high up there as a vocalist but sometimes she gives a lack of support and can’t hit the top note properly. TORI KELLY she’s soooo goood like the agility is amazing but it may get annoying if you hear those runs non stop. Jojo is great too but her tonal quality isn’t good for me , and I don’t like her temper in songs but she’s still a great vocalist .

I did not know zara was so agile. That was awesome. I do agree they deserve so much more respect than what they get (specifically from the vocals community tbh). I do however (possibly an unpopular opinion so trigger warning lol) think that a lot of them are actually quite lacking as well rounded vocalists. I think it's so easy to get wrapped up in the technique of it all that many seem to forget that that is only one part of it (and imo I'm more on christina's wavelength that it's smaller like 25%) and that the rest comes in with artistry. What I mean by that is what they do with the voice (melisma, dynamics, stylism etc.), story telling, music, and performance. I also think with the vocals community there's this horrible element that also has to be contended with when trying to garner respect for any vocalist that peaked after the early/mid nineties. There are certain stans from certain stanbases that are just horrible and obsessed with tearing down every vocalist that isn't their fave and have weaponised technique as a way to do so. Tbh it's mainly the stans of the vocal trinity especially the lambily. Don't get me wrong they exist in every fan base but I think because these are larger and were older when youtube appeared but still young enough to hop on the trend so they kinda got this wierd foothold on the vocals community. There are even some whom have made things up about technique just to tear down singers that are compared to their faves and it's almost always the same channels. Sometimes a new one pops up here and there but tbh I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same people IRL. Obviously it's still just a minority of their stanbases and it's really unfortunate to see them smear the names of the stanbases they claim because there are so many wonderful members of those groups but it doesn't change where it's largely coming from. I mean lets take the definition of "support" that went around and was used as a way by many to categorically claim who's better. It included things that had nothing to do with support and was so wierd. You literally had to do a note near perfect for them to be considered as supported unless you were a vocalist of a previous generation. It has been repeatedly debunked as an incorrect respresentation of what the term support actually means and vocal coaches kind of verified that by stating that notes were well supported that many of these channels had labelled as unsupported, yet still we see people displaying the same practises. "what's their supported range" still pops up everywhere and you still get people who obsessively use it to define whose the best. It's dumb, wierd and toxic. It's not just the definition of support it's the obsession with upper belts, the diminishment of skills such as dynamics and falsetto, refusing to acknowledge that certain artists can and have reached those standards despite multiple examples being shoved down peoples throats. It's gotten to the point where some fans almost seem apologetic when talking about their faves and channels are constantly having to make videos refuting this nonsense. I mean look at how many people try to claim billie's a bad singer because she isn't belting much and chooses a breathier style, even though vocal coaches repeatedly praise her for what she's doing. Like billie is far from the best vocalist ever but does she have to be to be considered good? It's like if things don't perfectly conform to these people's standards then it's evil and needs to be removed or put in it's place. It's wierd tbh. This shits supposed to be fun and these overly competivity weirdos keep pooping all over the party. I really think these people have had a really horrible effect on the way we view vocalists and I think it's a really big part of why some aren't getting the respect they deserve, in fact I'd go as far as to say that very few of them actually are. (I'm dyslexic so I apologise about the horrific grammar).

Personally I think the difference between then and now isn't mainly that the talent isn't there it's how the music scene is shaped now. There is less interest on powerhouse vocals and great singing like it was then people want to be entertained and vibe so artists aren't pressed or even trying to do ballads and sing songs that go hard vocally cos there isn't really an emphasis on that right now. And those that mainly do that aren't as popular and if they are they are few and far between pop has changed everything.
