I'm just to happy you've made this video. Geno has been so disrespected it's shameful. His skill level puts him as a top 10 QB. And as you so well pointed out, he's been playing without adequate support. You could even say he's had some remarkable success considering the deficiencies in the team around him. I mostly think it's poor play calling. Another thing fans don't recognize is that he won't make throws that would receivers in jeopardy. I truly don't understand why fans don't recognize his talent. Is it that they don't know zip about football or are just looking for someone to blame? If you want to know how good Geno is, ask his receivers or opponents

I swear it pisses me off how much blame he gets when receivers don’t get open , drop balls, scheme sucks, and O-line is cooked in less than two second. He was literally a pro bowler last year he is not the problem, and rookie qb will not be an upgrade

Seattles o-line has been a mix and match patch work job since week one. Wilson use to get a pass playing behind much more stable lines. Some folks just hate Geno and will never give him credit.

Great video, Matty. Probably no easy answer as to why people think Gino is a bad quarterback, despite the evidence to the contrary. But I have noticed that social media can induce a mob like response in some people, where they do and think things because other people are doing and thinking those same things.

Put me down as thinking matty is not deluded. Great video and nice to see geno play really well. I hope our screen game continues to be a focus since we won’t be blocking up the 49ers or eagles dline straight up all game. Any thoughts on how they got our screen offense working?

Geno Smith has also had to deal with a bad defense both his year’s starting for us. Much like Russ Did. He can never build momentum with this offense because he has to play perfect football for the team to even have a chance at success. But unlike Wilson that’s unfair to ask a QB who isn’t making top level money like a Mahomes, Burrow or Herbert.

Good content as always Matty good breakdowns. Geno is good he does have his games where I question why he threw that. When he has time to throw though it’s amazing what he can throw. but my biggest thing is defense. I got spoiled with that LOB defense that I can’t stand when we miss tackles.

Thank you Matty. How has the OL looked with Olu and Bradford playing? I.e moving forwards is Cross-Lewis-Olu-Bradford-Lucas any better? Or is it.impossible to tell given the injuries/constant changes?

I agree as well. Sick of hearing negative Geno talk when the problem obviously lies in the blocking (which was much better in this game with the return of Lucas). I believe it's because of the assumption that Wilson was a "great" quarterback and was the reason Seattle won a superbowl, when in reality, they won with a combination of a very good run/pass game and exceptional defense. I think if this team gets another year to improve and get healthy they could be very competitive.

The NFL hasn't helped at all with completely "over valuing" QB's for so long and shoving it down everyone's throats that the QB dictates wins and losses. Yes, I know QB's are the most valuable position, but the NFL has completely inflated the position to the point where people start to believe that the best QB's are the sole reason for being successful. It also doesn't help how other positions have been devalued like the RB position by many younger coaches.

Ugh, I started writing a whole essay about this but I'll keep it brief: fans don't like Geno because of the perception of him from his time with the Jets, because russet wilson built a false mystique about himself that left the fandom both divided and unwilling to support a successor, and because we just aren't very good right now and it's easy to blame the quarterback. It's all on film... but try convincing people to pay for subscriptions to watch game film. It's easier to read free fan sites or watch youtube channels that create hype instead of offer analysis. Also... I dunno, there might be something more sinister involved, too, but that notion makes people really defensive.

Christoph, i watch the all 22 and I’ve seen red zone failures by Geno for most of the year. Saying I’m just stupid about the game to fortify your position is just simply a cheap shot.

Christoph. I started reviewing games when I had to roll the film back on my VCR. Geno is not all of the problem but he’ s a big part of the problem. To say otherwise is simply a way to reinforce your narrative so you can be the guy who’s right all the time.

Well, firstly, I am not right all the time, NOT AT ALL, NOT EVEN CLOSE... but you can't deny that fans-at-large don't watch film.

Or and more simply...geno's an average qb who after a year of film teams figured him out? He's goff, carr, cousins. Not terrible and none of have done anything for any team they've played on.
@theshadow5800

Good simply isn't good enough to take a team to a SB. That combined with his age giving fans no expectation he'll get any better means he's not the QB for the futre 2-3 yr drive back to being a SB contender. He fit Carroll's needs for a pedestrian QB for a mediocre team and an over the hill coach. He just isn't consistent. Occasional spirts of brilliance, but not enough.

You wanna know why ? Because winning the superbowl is the ultiamate end goal. And we will never come close to that with Geno at the healm. And good luck to any team out there that thinks he can accomplish that. Geno is a 1st round playoff elimination caliber QB. And thats it.

Are you serious???. He literally hit him in face. It doesn't get more accurate than that. It was a perfect throw, Lockett has to make that catch. The way he threw this kept the defense from being able to react on the ball. If he hangs that thing in the air or out there Defenders can get back in the play. No qb is critized or critiqued more than this guy. He had a 334 yard game with 3tds and Seattle fans were still critiquing this man.

Unbelievable comment. You are delusional. The ball was placed right on him. If our receivers can only catch balls thrown within a millimeter of the center dot on their chest then we need new receivers. Hit him in stride on the face. This is why he makes millions of dollars.

Lets see, before the Dallas game Geno hadnt thrown a touchdown for seven and a half quarters of play against inferior teams. Does that clear it up for you. His red zone performance was also abysmal against team like the L.A. Rams. You can have your opinion but you can’t have your own history.

Last year, the Rams went from winning the SB (so Matt Stafford is a pretty good QB) to being (with a few key injuries on the offensive line) "The worse SB defending champions" and having the 32nd ranked offense in the league. So, all of the sudden Matt Stafford is a bad QB?
