I just hit on your video and surprised myself that I watched to the end. I am an 81 year old Native American great-grandma living in a small suburb outside of Phoenix, AZ. I found that although our backgrounds were different, the spirit of survival and hard work plus a deep faith in the Lord was a wonderful blessing that always brought me peace. Thanking us for subscribing to your channel is a "favor" we all appreciate and so would your prayers. Blessings to you and Mr. Brown.

Arline Robertson- Hello from our working farm in Central ⛵ Lakes New Hampshire. I am also 73. My great grandfather and my great Uncle Ray were farmers. Ray was my grandma Hazel's brother. His wife Annie, Ray and gram taught me the old NH ways at a young age. I am forever grateful. Today my husband and I live the 1940's rural lifestyle of my grandmother. It has taken us through the pandemic and we are going to continue raising grass fed beef and haying. Our farm cottage looks a lot like Lori's, including a 1930 kitchen wood stove. I thank God and my gram for the lifestyle we live and share with others, who are interested in down home living ~ Diane

Miss Lori, my married life was just like yours. We raised our kids on my husband’s Great Uncles homestead. My husband also worked away. I grew up in town so it was a steep learning curve for me. Calving cows, milking, butchering chickens was very foreign to me. I also could not cook! My husband had so much patience and was a good teacher. My mother in law was a great cook so she was a good teacher too. I try to pass along all that I know to my kids and grandkids. I praise God for all life’s blessing and I know he is there for me through our struggles. I love your KZbin channel.

Just being objective here and not trying to be mean, she is either overweight or obese as about two-thirds of Americans are. She seems to think being fat comes from eating too many cakes, pies, and cookies, but that's not accurate. Unless there are medical conditions contributing to an issue there, she likely does overeat. Overeating healthy foods isn't healthy. Even if somehow she isn't overeating, it would very likely help her live longer and a better quality of life if she worked on reducing her weight more.

My Mom was from Clifty, near Bentonville. And Fayetteville. I have visited my cousins a few times. Pea Ridge. I can't think of the name of the Mill on the river. One cousin lives next door. Another cousin calls it Billy's Mill but I dont know that it is. There is a Faire there put on by the Mill, then my cousin puts on a faire. Of course he may have given that up because he is older than I am, 86. And now I feel so unambiguous that I dont want to travel anymore. I enjoy your videos. Only you make me feel like a lazy lout because I didnt live in the country. Seattle, Washington became my home by default. I moved from Coos Bay, Oregon and got stuck here. I am 69 year old single male. My mom was a school teacher and my Dad a framer and worked in the woods. I grew up so much like what your described as your upbringing . Brought back so many memories for me and for that I thank you so very much. I would like to see the children today do what we did not because we wanted to but we needed to do them. We all need to get back to that way of living even if it is in just a small way. City living , you can do things to help yourself and the ones around you as much as if you live int e country.God is everywhere , his love will help anyone and everyone get through things. Sure hope you and Mr. Brown enjoy your retirement and sure hope that you get to travel. Come on up to Nova Scotia Canada , we'd love to have you. God bless and I always watch. Love ya Thane Bent

Thane Bent- Hello from New Hampshire! Back in 1974, we bought a small farmstead on Annagance Ridge in New Brunswick, Canada. There was a 12 party telephone service, glass insulators on the electric poles, a " key mac?" combination kerosene/wood kitchen stove. I had to prime the hand pump in the pump house next to the hay barn for water. They were still cutting ice off the ponds. I loved it! We were growing zone 3. So our current NH working farm is a tad more modern. We are using most of my farther-in-law's farm equipment from the 1940s, 50s. and 60s. We were originally dairy but switched to grass fed beef. I enjoy living a rural livestyle. Yes I have a laptop and modern bread maker, but I well know how to light the oil lamp and our kitchen woods stove. Now we are growing zone 4B :-) -We built our farm cottage in 2016 to be both on or off grid. These times are challenging. I would like to be as self sustaining as possible and help others to be more independent if times get tough. ~ Diane

Thane Bent I totally agree. I want to live that life. My am an old lady, but I can cook, clean, shell pies, gather eggs, and do many things. I can also read stories to the "lilttle ones" and tuck them in bed. My grandmother did "Lots of putting up" and you never left the house without a gift of apricots, or food. But you had better return her jars!

Miss Lori thank you for sharing your life with us, and confiding in us… if a person hasn’t grown up on a ranch or farm, and haven’t had to go out and work a ranch or a farm to survive, they cannot really realize all it takes. I was raised on a ranch Dash farm. It’s an around the clock job. Milking and taking care of all the milk, 12 gallons a day..and vegetables from the garden, feeding and taking care of all the animals, keeping them clean and healthy, protected and thriving, let alone, building and maintaining barns, fences and pastures to keep the animals safe and fed. We had a herd of cows, several horses, a herd of pigs, and chickens. Especially if you’re starting from nothing, and having to build your way from the ground up. My parents were poor people..and the parents of nine children. The hardest working people I’ve ever known of. We were poor, like I said, so necessity was the mother of invention…And we all learned to work right alongside them. It was a family affair.😄 it was a wonderful life in so many ways, and a lot of hard work too. We had our struggles and things weren’t always happy, but the one thing, mother, especially taught us was ..And be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ sake has forgiven you..Ephesians 4:32.. she always went to Jesus, and we learn to trust God. Praise God we need him to get through the tough times, and knowing him in the good times, is wonderful. Jesus is a constant companion, if we let him be. Bless you Mr. and Mrs. Brown.

You are such a relatable gentle soul. It`s sad that much of today`s society has not experienced simple living, simple conversations and just plain out real love. I`m 64, lost my husband 3 years ago, so I do struggle financially and having to pay someone to do yard work. But I remember often that His Grace is sufficient. You`re a blessed reminder that I will keep going forward. God Bless you and Mr. Brown. Look forward to more conversations and videos.

Simple doesn't mean easy. To me simple is just being debt free as possible, preserving all you can to alleviate the rising costs of things. Knowing how to do everything you need to know to get through life, such as sewing, gardening, fixing things. Simple is a peaceful life even if you have to work hard at keeping it simple. Prayers and blessings to you and Mr Brown. Thanks for a wonderful video ❤

Thank You for sharing your story Lori. It reminds me of a saying. "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times” is from a post-apocalyptic novel by G. Michael Hopf called “Those Who Remain” 12. God Bless you all. You are a strong woman because of the hard times you had to endure. We are in the same boat. Just entering retirement. My husband is retired but, I still work as a nurse. We are doing Okay and planned ahead for hard times when we won't be able to work.
