Hey Ace, My partner and I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the video with your father. It was great to hear his experience as an Ecuadorean. Congratulations on your new job 🙂

I appreciate you taking the time to check that video out, it means a lot. And I’ll do my best at the new job!

Ace , I want to express my sincere appreciation for the invaluable work you do. Your candid and insightful reporting on the current affairs in Ecuador is truly commendable. As someone living in the USA ( Texas ) with plans of relocating to Ecuador, I find solace in your comprehensive coverage, which allows me to stay informed about the happenings in the ECU. Your dedication to presenting unfiltered perspectives is truly admirable. I like that you are providing accurate and unbiased information, and I look forward to continuing to follow your work closely. It is my hope that our paths may cross one day, affording me the opportunity to express my gratitude in person and perhaps share a drink together. Where in Ecuador to you live at ?

I tend to ignore the algorithm and make the videos I want to rather than what will help my channel the most. My channel definitely confuses the algorithm and the videos that blow up are often the videos I don’t really like the most, while my favorite videos don’t really get the views.

Besides that: those algorithms change constantly and nobodies knows exactly how they work.

How much does a new motorcycle helmet cost in Ecuador?
@GMAceM8 ай бұрын
Depends on the kind of helmet really. For example there are the cheap helmets that look like little hats that cost like $10 but those don’t guarantee anything and are more of a “look police, I’m wearing a helmet!” (I think in Quito they’re not even allowed but not sure) The one I bought was $40-50 and this one actually did look like a helmet lol. My brother actually has the same one (different color) and that’s what I’ve been using. I think on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of helmets there are some here that cost $60+ and even online most start at $100 but those are from different places

Well, good luck to you. I actually found your channel a few days ago because I was considering relocating to Ecuador, but that’s before I became aware of the crime/security issues. I would’ve loved to move to Ecuador, but it just seems too risky as a foreigner (such as myself) who does not blend in with the locals. Don’t want to be an easy target. That said, there’s just too much unknown about Ecuador’s future stability and it seems unlikely the government will solve the security issue any time soon.
@hydrazi8 ай бұрын
My friend, I am as white as the driven snow from which I come. Blonde hair, blue eyes. And I have nevervfelt unsafe here. It's about as dangerous here as living a medium sized city in the US.
@DamienGWilson8 ай бұрын
@@hydrazi I’ll take your for it as someone there on-ground, but from my perspective (from the outside looking in) I just don’t feel comfortable with everything I’ve discovered in my research such as the uptick in murders, robberies, foreigners being burned alive by indigenous folks, the two Americans framed (by indigenous folks) and wrongly imprisoned for several years, the recent news station incident, the ongoing state of emergency, the previously imposed curfews, etc. I’m a full-time expat and so I’m experienced enough to know what’s what. I lived in Brazil for two years, but left there because of the crime. I then moved to Cambodia for 8 months and now I’m in Morocco, but looking for a permanent place to settle that’s closer to the US. All that’s to say I (1) am somewhat still traumatized from the bad experience in Brazil and unwilling to put myself in a similar situation and (2) I’ve been moving around quite a bit the past few years and prefer to not waste further money/resources if a location knowingly presents certain challenges.
@GMAceM8 ай бұрын
Similarly to Matt, there are many people who live very peaceful lives here and my argument against crime is that it won’t happen to you if you’re not directly involved in it. But on the other end of the spectrum, I will never discard caution and it would be irresponsible for me to say that it couldn’t happen to someone. I’ve used this example many times but I could go out and happen to be at a restaurant where someone else who IS involved with mafias/gangs happens to be and they had a hit put out on them and since I happened to be there then I got caught up in it. What are the chances of this happening? Not very high but for a lot of people that’s plenty and I get it. So yeah, I hope the security issue gets resolved but I’ve been here long enough to not expect it to happen unless certain things change.

One thing I've figured out regarding "deleted" comments is that if you watched another video, especially a short, during the time you were watching the main video you intended to comment on, your comment goes on that other video. You won't know it happened unless someone likes or replies to your comment AND you've enabled notifications for that. I know this is happening in the KZbin app for Android devices... I've tested it on a few, but haven't tested it on an Apple device or PC yet. At the time you make your comment, it appears to have posted to the correct video, but it's gone if you exit the app and go back to this video. So, if you think your comments are being deleted, check your watch history and check the comment sections of the 2-3 videos you watched before and after the video you intended to comment on. I've found several of my missing comments that way.

Off-topic: Is Joe from Joli Farms still with us? Word is he passed a week ago. The VAT increase could have been better timed. The minimum wage of $460 a month is well below the cost of living and fuels many crimes. The 'state of emergency' ended on April 8th, and Fito is still on the loose after being released by prison officials. Snatching the convicted criminal from the Mexican embassy was a bold but necessary act.
@lvovodessa8 ай бұрын
The assault on the embassy was unnecessary. Police surveillance as the UK did at the Ecuadorian embassy in London would have been a simple solution without the severe consequences that Ecuador will suffer now.
