@webguyuk9 ай бұрын
Agreed - what a massive difference in attitude, selling the firm in the best possible way, explaining the various price ranges and sizes, doing a superb marketing job with no bad "what are you doing" attitude. OK, I don't have £750,000 let alone £3+ Million, but he redeemed that company in 2-3 minutes compared to the "we insist" drone owner (perhaps having his Health and Safety head screwed on tight!!) Security guard and hidden SIA card seemed quite a lot more reasonable at the end, despite the attitude several staff were showing initially without knowing, not caring about the limits of what they can expect, demand or request, just blundering about like a bull in a china shop, making ridiculous claims about what is needed, what's not allowed and why they felt private land stopped any access or recording about what may be visible. Amazing degree of patience and calmness shown to hold back from saying "nothing you can do to stop me" which might have been my reaction, had I been faced by those initial staff members, assuming they had the ability to prevent someone doing a legal activity (ignoring their unsupported expectations of doing what they wished, and meekly conforming to their silly demands).
@martiangod9 ай бұрын
You see the same thing at most companies, the management usually have a lack of intelligence and common sense compared with the lower staff, higher education doesn't equal intelligence, its just collecting and remembering data to gain a degree. Ive met people who earn millions and cant change a bayonet light bulb. This is the reason most staff at a company know whats going wrong and can see what needs changing to make staff happy but management cant figure it out because they're too lazy and important to leave their desk, this equals high staff turnover and poor customer service

@@ItsEasyJustLift Wrong, your research was too hasty. The restrictions applying to upper and lower strata apply to overhanging trees, or structures such as signs or cranes, not to drones. DJE's drone is sub-250g. Crowds cannot be overflown. It cannot be flown at altitudes above 400 ft, but can be flown as low as the operator wants. There is a restriction on horizontal distance from buildings, but not on vertical distance. Airspace above private property is controlled by the CAA, not by the owner, so no trespass.

@rayzalaf89889 ай бұрын
You are the one that's incorrect, check out the lower and upper stratum. Who owns the air above your land? Source -- Land Owners Rights. Well in short you do! So why do you ask are aircraft allowed to overfly? The answer is in the Civil Aviation Act 1982 which, denies the landowner any remedy for “trespass” or “nuisance” “by reason only of the flight of an aircraft over any property at a height above the ground which, having regard to wind, weather and all the circumstances of the case is reasonable, or the ordinary incidents of such flight.” If your neighbours tree overhangs your property you are entitled to ask them to remove it or do so yourself (subject to tree preservation orders of course) and return to them the offending branch. In built up areas you now rarely see T cranes with their swinging counterbalance. This is because the adjacent landowner is entitled to refuse permission for it to over swing their land and can charge a substantial sum to grant permission. Under English law a landowner owns the airspace above his land (unless it has been expressly excluded from the lease or transfer to him) and it is therefore trespass if a developer or its contractor allows a tower crane jib to swing across land owned by other parties. An adjoining owner can obtain an injunction to prevent such trespass without needing to show that any damage has occurred. An ‘Oversail’ licence is required and a fee must be negotiated in which the landowner can effective ask whatever they like. Not yet tested in law the same will apply to the operation of a drone. You must have permission of the landowner to overfly their land because drone operations take place in that area below that the level at which ordinary flight takes place. This area of airspace owned by the landowner! Ah, but my permission from the CAA says I can fly up to 50 meters from a structure so surely if I keep that distance away I am ok. Well no, all the CAA are doing is saying what you can do from the CAA point of view. It is down to you the Drone Pilot to secure the permissions to overfly land that you have not had permission to take off from.@@zendesigner

@@TONE11111 lol , down the rabbit hole over a Drone , a quick search brought up this "The basis of UK land law is the presumption that all land belongs to the Crown. Everybody else is a tenant of the Crown who holds their land from the Crown. This principle operates on the basis of Right of Conquest, when it was accepted that the sovereign owned all the land and individuals could hold, or rent, land from the king, but at a price - usually cash or fighting men for the king. This is the origin of a leasehold property. Later, when the king required more money, he started selling land ‘freehold’. This meant the tenant could hold or occupy the land free of any charge to a superior. Note that in both cases the land is merely held, not owned. In other words, purchasers did not buy the land; they bought the freehold, or the right to occupy the land without charge. In this way, all individuals except the sovereign were said to hold the land “of” someone else. This is the roots of sovereignty. However, when land became ‘ownerless’ [as in intestate estates or company bankruptcy], it reverted back to the sovereign as absolute owner. This principle still operates today. However, instead of the word ‘sovereign’, the word ‘Crown’ is used as a metaphor for the institution of government - which the sovereign embodies and represents."

You talk about CAA rule regarding line of sight, but if you read it properly not only do you need line of sight on the drone but know which way the drone is facing. This is from the CAA own website. Please don’t ruin this hobby for us. 2. Always keep your drone or model aircraft in direct sight and make sure you have a full view of the surrounding airspace You must be sure that you'll be able to spot any hazards, in the air or on the ground, and avoid any collisions. You must be able to see your drone or model aircraft clearly enough that you can tell which way it’s facing. This is so that you can steer and control it safely, even if something happens unexpectedly. You must be able to see it without using: binoculars a telephoto lens electronic viewing equipment, such as a smart phone, tablet or video goggles Using normal glasses and contact lenses is fine.

The airspace which exists above the height which is reasonably acceptable and necessary for the ordinary use and enjoyment of the land by its owner - around 500 to 1000 feet above roof space level (Section 76 Civil Aviation Act 1982).
