I love the acting. All the actors are amazing. But the way the show is cut is not viewer friendly. I am not from US, so I had to research the whole case just so I can make sense of what am I watching. I wish the character arcs were a bit more linear.
@shanequastunningbrave53762 жыл бұрын
There are no real arcs. it's dirty street cop gets caught and confesses. The characters trying to prosecute them have even less depth, they just change location to repeat exposition!

I understand. I'm from Baltimore and I felt it exciting to do the research. I read more detailed information and understood the story more.

The show is very good, it's just lacking in the action... I expected to see more murders & well constructed stories, it seems they're really just giving a replay of the real life scandal with the Baltimore PD.
@wolf7el3562 жыл бұрын
@Paul X The Sopranos was about the real life Mafia, doesn't mean they didn't spruce up a majority of the story from the show. A lot of what took place in the Wire was based on real life events in Baltimore, they still took liberty & added more to it. I just thought this show would do the same thing.
@herbihenacho19712 жыл бұрын
If this was a show with season like the Wire, Sopranos, etc. I would agree with you. But being a 6 episodic show, the showed the the most pivotal points to move the story line. The Wire and Sopranos wire fictional characters loosely' based on real characters. They had the liberty to expound on story line including actions like murders etc. We own the city is based on real people which had to be shown as close to realistic as possible. The show was about (corrupt) cops, who were (primary) thieves and liars, not murders. How the system allowed for it to happen. I appreciate because it stayed as true to the events as possible.

@@herbihenacho1971 It was basically a documentary with actors. I like the show, I just had different expectations based on what HBO usually does with its shows.
@herbihenacho19712 жыл бұрын
@@wolf7el356 If you look at it like that, with the lens of previous HBO shows, id agree with that. But in comparison, I don't think youre being fair to this show because it doesn't have seasons like other HBO shows. Imagine the wire/sopranos in just six episodes, would this show still have you same opinion? But I can see and respect your point of view. I just look at the show for what it is and how it stands on its own merit .it's storytelling of cops, the system, the politics , and public and it effects everyone's lives one way or another.

Should be called 'We Own This Exposition'
@wolf7el3562 жыл бұрын
That's literally the whole show, exposition questions to get to the meat of the story, which is as cut & dry as watching a PBS historical reenactment.There's no suspense, no build up, it's just a flat replay of exactly what happened in the Baltimore PD scandal, which is fine but seems a bit unnecessary to make a 6 episode series about, could've just made a 2-hr long documentary about the whole thing & it would play just the same as the show.
