Those trees are black locust. You can pile them up, burn the pile, and in the ashes will be all the thorns. The next 30 years-happy flat tires every time you drive near burn spot.

That custom cab is gonna need to be washed out; seats removed, dis-assembled and metal parts sand blasted, including the springs. All electronic parts checked over, cleaned, tested for connectivity and the entire driver panel re-wired and a check on the key entry lock. A fresh set of original keys will need to be made as well.

Mr. Badsocket - You mention that that the old Ford grain truck with the beautiful rust patina @ 1:24 will turn orange if you take it to your home. I assume you mean is will start rusting in earnest if you take it to a wet climate. I have an off-the-wall idea! Is there any reason why couldn't take that old truck, give it a really thorough exterior clearing, then spray it with a thick coat of clear urethane? I'm talking the same stuff Wal-Mart sells in a spray can for $1.99. That stuff makes for a clear, tough finish, Any reason you couldn't preserve the rust patina that way?

Hard to know the end story on this one. That 4020 didn't arrive with them so it looks to me like it isn't quite abandoned but being prepped for auction and maybe they knew the auctioneers and are being allowed to pick a few items beforehand. I've been to more than my share of farm auctions and the things they took wouldn't do well at auction anyway. And anything that the auctioneers consider to be junk they want out of the way before the day of the sale and if you'll come in and take some of it then you're doing them a favor. And besides, so many people say they'd love to have this or that but when the opportunity arrives they may not have the time or even the means to follow through. This is just supposition on my part since he didn't reveal any background information.

That is one thing that I notice on other videos and have worked to develop an awareness of avoiding. It doesn't affect the shots as much on things closer in the field of view as it does with things in the background, so when you are trying to pick out something in the background it does make that more difficult. It has to do with the frame rate (number of pictures captured in a second of video footage). It's always easier to manage and maintain when I am shooting at a place with level terrain and no vegetation, but in a rougher place it always becomes a balance to shoot good footage while maintaining good footing and not faceplanting into a bush or relic. Not everything here was for sale, so out of respect for the owner I tried to focus on filming just those things we were there to consider buying. It's always a bit of a tug of war to tell a good story and show what viewers want to see, and I'm always committed to improving what I bring you!

We asked permission to come look and were invited here by the owner. I think there is a bit of confusion about the term "abandoned"... it's definitely not a perfect word, but in this case it is just a searchable term or keyword. All property is owned by someone, somewhere

We walked the property with the owner, after he invited us there. He was in the tractor helping load the trucks.

The owner is still alive, he has retired from farming and moved to town. I don't ever go on a place that I wasn't invited to or did not ask permission to see. Everything you see is as it happened. It takes more work to stage something than to just tell it like it is!
