Okay, I've got an idea for a twist for this video (that'd probably stop anyone from counting ahead). Your placing in one battle determines the order for the next 4 characters. If you place first, then you get the first character in the next set. I think it could work for doubles or free for alls, and there's still a little bit of strategy involved (if you think you're losing this match anyway, you might want to SD and get 4th place on purpose, so you know you can use "one of your best characters" in the next round!)

Around 26:50, I went frame-by-frame to see exactly what happened in case no one else figured it out: Zack hit Hop with a back air at the same time as Hop got hit by the cross, which sent him up and to the right. Cogger jumped off the platform with a back air and got hit by Poppt's cross on its return trip, sending him into the air because he was at a high percent. Poppt throws an axe to KO both Cogger and Hop, ending the incredibly confusing and fast-paced series of events.

I have an idea for a challenge so, it is a two-stock free-for-all where everyone starts with the first character Mario, and whoever wins the match gets to move on to the next character, and the way to win the overall game is to be the first one to reach the last character; RANDOM and win with it. The exciting thing is the catch-up mechanic for the one in last place if you are 5 characters behind the first-place guy. you will go into a random character 1v1, 1 stock match with him where if you beat him you will get to move right behind him.
