While true, in older games when this happens during battle minigames, they split that evenly amongst the first players, I don't see a good reason for them to do away with that system in these games. There is no reason to do this when the old system worked and felt fair. The only thing this new version does is disincentivize intentionally getting ties, while making getting one just feel so much worse for the loser

Reverse mimigames are one of the very few fun aspects of Mario Party 10. You know it was the perfect opportunity for the fellas to roast each other. Also, good luck trying to 4 player Mario Party DS. The minigames and boards are fun for first timers, but you also get cool extra game modes and you can even do 2 v 2 parties

I think this video showcases that there is some merit to the new things introduced in mario party 9 and 10. The extra dices that limit the number you roll are a nice way to control what space you want to land on without it being too op like the custom dice. The reverse minigames are a fun twist and make you play some minigames in a completely different way. The change order spaces are a fun way to mix things up. Boss fight minigames are a cool concept too (aside the final point bonus) I would like to see stuff like this implemented in the classic formula
