@@colerippeon3903 Yes, it is more efficient. Just get the heaviest grease you can find and coat the inside of the transfer ports and exhaust ports to cover the aluminum. You can put it on with a paint brush, but wear rubber gloves. Rinse well with water, then use hot water so the part dries. A quick pass with a hone will make the cylinder look like new.

Now that you can dissolve aluminum... now you should dissolve steel with "alum" (can demonstrate dissolving a steel bolt in an aluminum head for example) You just need a high concentration of alum and a bit of heat to speed things along.

The basic thing happening with this stuff is the iodine and chlorine really aren't all that interested in remaining bound to each other and when they break apart, the chlorine has a stronger affinity for the metals and oxides, converting them into chlorides, releasing the iodine as a gas, the purple color seen when it is reacting.

Maybe get a 6X12 utility trailer, mount as many garage door openers as possible, put a Lada rear axle on the trailer and set it up so the differential U-joint winds up all the springs together. Then connect the trailer to a Lada and the trailer pushes the car.

Drive a Lada entirely on the starter motor using extreme gearing.
@BlackPill-pu4vi2 жыл бұрын
@@jwalster9412 That would be a short video. A starter motor isn't made to run for very long because of the high current. A Lada starter motor is probably good for 1 HP as long as the battery can maintain power. Take out the spark plugs, disconnect everything else to reduce drag from the engine, leave in 1st gear, and just use the starter as it is. I'll wager it will either run down the battery in 10 minutes or burn the windings. Experiment over.

Can brakes be operated with automatic transmission fluid? For sure regular oil will destroy the seals but maybe the detergents in ATF will give them a chance.

No, I think it can actually start a fire if you mix stuff with brake fluid. Brake fluid only for your brakes
@ouch10112 жыл бұрын
ATF works fine as a hydraulic fluid but it won’t work in a system that is not designed for petroleum. Petroleum or mineral fluids in the brake system cause all the rubber parts to swell and fail. Has nothing to do with the detergents, and the detergents most definitely will not help save the seals from being destroyed by the ATF. Cannot stress enough how important it is to _only use brake fluid in your brake system_

Must be similar to muriatic acid. I've used it for years to remove galvanized coatings before welding.
@Psychx_2 жыл бұрын
I-Cl is more reactive, since it's an interhalogen compound and with different hazards involved. With muriatic acid, the Aluminium goes into solution due to H+ getting reduced to H2. Here, I+ gets reduced to I2 instead, which itself is highly reactive towards living tissue. Later, when the Iodine is used up the reaction shifts towards Aluminium reacting with H2O, producing H2 gas and several aluminium complexes [AlX4]- with X being Cl- and/or OH-, due to the ramaining Chloride dissolving the passivation layer of the metal.
@Dat_Sun2 жыл бұрын
Must be the availability of more oxygen when poured on the outside that makes it react faster.
@techalyzer2 жыл бұрын
No connection there, the reaction is strictly between the iodine monochloride and aluminum, giving off iodine (the violet gas) and aluminum chloride. The inside is probably oxidized and/or covered in deposits as it often happens. The reaction seems to be highly exothermic though, as you need to have over 180C to get iodine vaporized, so it looks like it's "burning". But it's not burning.
