we do tend to stay calm , found out in th epast that losing your head makes things a lot worse and you dont think , but it was one of them situations that we had to film just to show a faliour and hopefully us getting out which we didnt know if we would have but did work out in the end

Top tip, Tie some string to the boards and attach the other end to the back of the van, So when you get unstuck you dont have to stop to go and pick them up, you can just keep on going until you find solid ground

Why did you let down the tyre pressure on the front non-driven wheels? If anything, increasing the pressure would have been better. Lowering the pressure on the rears would help.

little tip from ray mears. tie parracord to the recovery boards and tie to the back of van so stops them flying out the back and also recovers them for you .

I feel you're pain Neil, I dropped our 31ft RV off the side of a road in a forest in the night. Had two recovery vans first said he couldn't do anything, second was 5 ton to pull 7 to RV OUT. I Had to show him how to use a tree with his snack block plus me driving the RV. JOB DONE. OH and I couldn't have just watched you both.

There are times when I have had to question my life choices too Neil . It took me 5hrs in the pouring rain to dig a Land Rover Defender out from the chassis rails on Tynehead pass . With a spade half that size , no winch and no recovery boards . Escaping being done for indecent exposure by 5 seconds was the icing on the cake that day . Ahhhh the memories. Cos it’s been converted . Water tanks fast tanks the full weight of the build and evey thing else all adds up and then you fill it with your own stuff . 90% of vans on the road will be over weight I garantee

I was watching this ready to jump on you guys here for dancing the sand dunes… however… looking at it while there of course is an impact it looks to be very minimal and mostly a bit of the sand moved which will soon blow back in to place. The boards really did help you to not rip up the dunes. When all else is said and done, your stuck you are going to struggle going the one way so options are limited what are you to do….

Our dogs where on their longer leads at the time and we are fairly strict with them when it comes to their behaviour, so as soon as they reacted and tried they where straight into the van and told off, we would never just let them chase animals and it’s not just Ireland where farmers will shot dogs for chasing live stock it’s also in the UK which is why we have them on leads when near any farm lands

This happened to me in Andalusia, l had checked that everywhere was firm for me to drive on , but there was this just one spot that wasn’t Hey Ho ! But this was Spain , l had Dutch , French , German , Spanish all diving in to help , it was like Dunkirk all over again getting the Brits out of The Shite . It cost l few beers but it was well worth it 🥳🤙

We actually had some prior to the recovery boards but they where very heavy so changed them out for weight on the van 😂😂

Well done Neil you plonka 🤣🤣don’t worry your not the only idiot last year I decided to take a short cut across a field on site to go and empty our cassette toilet on way leaving and never checked the grass tread check 🤣and sunk down to exhaust on our motor home I was fuming with myself.luckily the bloke in caravan next to us came out with his discovery with big winch on it and pulled us out in seconds paid him for doing it but felt a bit of an idiot after with caravanners sat on their pitch shaking their heads at me 🤣you live and learn mate soup looks amazing Emma. My princess has an obsession with air fryers we have 2 instant pots the largest they do and pressure cooker one 🤣🤣🤣
