Nice Blower Surge! Keep the boost under six pounds and keep it out of detonation and it should hold together longer than expected. The heads appear to be 441s, based off the casting marks. Those have 72cc combustion chambers that would give you a static compression ratio of 9.0:1 for a sbc 350, which is pretty close to the sweet spot for forced induction. The unported runners and smaller valves won't hurt you too much, given that it's a/f mix is pushed in via the supercharger. The rotating assembly will likely see a bit more strain, though. If you are lucky enough to have purchased a 4 bolt junkyard engine with a steel crank, it will extend the life of the project, but the cast pistons and OEM rod bolts will always be a weak link. Eh, like I say about most things: "It'll work 'til it don't." Looks like a good, fun build.

An engine is a machine that converts energy into mechanical energy, which creates motion. Engines can use a variety of energy sources, including heat, chemical, potential, electric, and nuclear energy. Here are some examples of engines: Car engines: Use a spark to ignite a mixture of air and fuel in a cylinder, causing it to burn and expand. The expansion provides power to turn the wheels. Car engines are typically powered by gasoline or diesel. You can find the type of engine in your car by checking the vehicle identification number (VIN), which is usually located in the owner's manual, under the hood, or on the driver's side dashboard. Train engines: A separate part of a train that pulls the rest of the train. question for a sbc guru out there. got a swap meet mystery 406/t56 6sp combo in my 79 monza spider at the moment. So unfortunately didn't build the motor its not super hot but definitely more then mild. gm performance aluminum heads and highrise single plane, crane gold roller rocker. full msd setup. 1 3/4 full length headman headers. visually thats all I know. im sure atleast a decent bottom end was put into it as well tho. cams not super aggressive I think itd have no problem being a good boost cam. also dont think conpression is very crazy id bet its no more then 10:1 prolly more 9:5. So heres my question for someone I got a blower I wanna throw on it just for fun. any guess on what a safeish boost level could be? I know theres alot of unknown factors So just looking for a guess like i said conpression definitely isn't wild and was told rings were gapped for a 150-200 shot or close it so we thinking running 10lbs with a 4-71 thru the 406 would be mildly safe lol any input appreciated thanks

The blower is driven by a 10 rib serpentine belt. It does not produce the whine noise like a Gilmer belt produces. I want the whining noise when I mount this engine in my '76 Corvette. I am looking at camshaft gear drive from Summit. They sell a quiet gear drive and a loud gear drive. Do you have any experience with these camshaft gear drives or know anyone who's installed them? Ironically, the well known Detroit lope / idle seems to have now been transferred to a gas engine...well done.
@70sStreetFreak Жыл бұрын
Thanks. It's obviously not tuned right but good enough to idle so it's close. Thanks for watching subscribe and follow along if you want.

Is this a 4 bolt main block?

What pulley size did you end up running on the stock engine? Im doing the same setup and looking for somewhere to start on a stock 350.
@70sStreetFreak9 ай бұрын
I have a 38 tooth on top and 40 on the bottom. It is over driven because this is an old blower so I wasn't sure on what boost it would put out but I will change things up when I figure out the actual boost it creates. Ideally you don't want anymore then 5 or 6 pounds with factory cast pistons.
@fixedroofcoupe9 ай бұрын
@@70sStreetFreak that was my thought. I have an old Detroit that was gas converted and was trying to figure out. I found some cheap 8mm local to me. 55 top and 50 bottom. About 9ish under drive. I think that should be a decent spot to start.
@70sStreetFreak9 ай бұрын
@@fixedroofcoupe I'd try that that sounds like a good spot.

So it's already like 8 to 1 or is that why you underdrive it
@70sStreetFreak Жыл бұрын
Compression is 8 to 1 but with the engine being stock I don't want to push it. It is under driven but eventually I will see how much boost a stock 350 can handle.
