honestly there was a lot of fire shit back in the day. I mean a lot of the hardware sucked, but it was so cool. It was back when they were first digitizing everything and experimenting with all kind of different storage formats and devices, before it all basically just became touchphone adapters and iPad type junk. Or worse, basically a touchpad with a keyboard mounted on top of it being sold as a wildly overpriced laptop for $300 filled with Google spyware. There's so much neat stuff Linus and team have done when they really focus on the sort of tech geek stuff, and I think one of my favourite may still be that 4 GPU in SLI configuration before SLI even existed by one of the guys who's now working on enterprise flight simulators iirc

My dad collects Hot Wheels, so no lie, I would love to be able to get hold of one of these just to re-fit it into a modern rig myself. Nothing this fancy -- most outrageous graphics it'd have to push are my dad's hidden object games on a 720p TV used as a monitor -- but fit something like a 5300 on an ITX mobo into this thing and it'd futureproof him for the next 8-10 years or so.

Well mostly well organized. Enough. Except for cables. But who cares he can cable manage his cable drawers when he retires. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npqvnYGwramZd8k Do you see that childlike joy on Linus' face? Let us forget our annoyances with major tech congloms for a minute and share in his joy as he rediscovers the childlike joy of playing those games on native, period correct hardware, which is becoming increasingly hard to find. STOP YOUR PARENTS FROM THROWING STUFF OUT! Don't let some poor Nigerian or Chinese child have to disassemble it for precious metals! Someone, somewhere, that is very very valuable to them, just like you can imagine someone's boomer parents throwing this Hotbox PC into the trash. It's not going to be easy finding hardware to boot DOS games off 5.25" floppy someday soon.

This is what fills me with dread about the upcoming generation, and I have 850w. You'd think that would be enough but not when you're also planning to buy a used 5950x at some point and "overclock" it to like 200w at a certain point. So there's that plus, how much GPU? THey're saying freakin 400w? 600w, just right there, bam. Not counting my HDDs and SSDs, plus optical drives plus RAM that's probably 100w minimum, plus peripherals fans etc. then I'll need an AIO and we're maxxed out so I can't even plug a HOTAS in. You at least have a real valid reason to upgrade. My one PSU died, which was 750w, so I got another one, and I didn't plan on ever having to upgrade once.

Amazing project, thanks, guys! One little suggestion: How about some very open (air flow) custom mesh for the drive openings? You could have these match the original color at your local paint shop. So, no visible holes anymore and even more car-look ;)

Just a tip for the audio part - in such cases when you need to use camera audio, it might be useful to get your hands on an iZotope RX suite and pass the audio through Dialogue De-reverb and Dialogue Isolate modules. Works wonders to clean up the voice. Might save your Butt one day. Amazing job as always btw

indeed, izotope rx is hella poweful. I would be surprised if they aren't already using it, it's just that good. I've definitely seen some ltt videos that had harsh recording conditions that sounded perfectly fine in the final edit, to the point where I thought it was ADR but no, it was just good post processing of good mics.

well izotope wont help for the nasty lav sound....screaming in my ears (on the brink of distortion as well) with a huge boost around 1-2khz :( well anyhow by far good enough for what it is. its not exactly drama or a good doc. :) what bothers me more is the jacked combined with the staged introduction :)
