Nice job. . I was wondering about how to sew a cover where the holes were deeper than the signatures. You solved my problem.

Thank You! You're a wonderful teacher and answered a few questions I 'd had about which side I should keep the thread on (left side) and where to connect signatures together. The clear camera angles and your gift of explaining details makes this one of the best videos I've watched.

Great tutorial. Cut you a small strip of shelf liner, grippy kind. Wrap around screws to help loosen them. ❤️

(Thread Length) This was a great tutorial! I was following along doing my first book:) I was also reading my bookbinding book I picked up from Barnes and Nobles (I could only find one book on the subject there haha), anyways, it states that for thread 🧵 length you need the height of your book times the number of signatures. I just thought this would be useful for anyone beginning like me:)

You may want to use a curved needle for that next time. It looks like the straight needle was not the easiest.
@Denofcreativity

I started with the straight needle too and had to change to the curved needle when I added more signatures.

Enjoyed this video have u made any updated ones where you use colored thread, I'm older eyes couldnt see well...also is there a reason that your only doing one set of signatures at a time? Is it a folding over issue to lay flat??? New to this I purchased roll of watercolor wanted to make some homemade sketch books I was wondering should I get this or mini cinch punch as I have trouble with limited arthritis in fingers...
@paperlovely5759
@paperlovely5759 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I hadn't thought of that and it's a really good idea - I'll add it to my list :) Yes, you do the signatures separately to allow the book to lie flat, the more signatures you have the thicker the spine will be. I do also have the cinch machine and it is wonderful - you are limited in the size of book you can make there but it's a great option if your fingers are unable to do the stitching. I'd recommend maybe trying a smaller signature book to see how you're able to get on with the thread and then you'll know which you'd prefer :)

By the way, a book does not "lay" flat...it "lies" flat...a question of 4th grade grammar....you do not "sit" the pieces off to the side...you "set" them off to the side...again, 4th grade grammar...otherwise, well done!!!
