WE RAN OUT OF CONCRETE !! BI FOLD EXTENSION PART 3 WE HAVE A BUSY DAY TAKING UP THE PAVING SLABS , BARROWED IN 4 TON OF QUARRIED MOT STONE , ITS THEN ALL COMPACTED WITH THE WACKER . NEXT WE PUT DOWN THE SAND BLINDING , WACK THAT THEN ITS THE FIRST DPM , 125 MM JABLITE POLYSYRENE INSULATION PLUS A 25 MM COLD BRIDGING STRIP , THEN ITS THE 2ND AND FINAL DPM .
NEXT DAY THE CONCRETE IS BARROWED IN BY THE CONCRETE COMPANY THEN FINALLY WE TAMP IT THEN TROWEL IT UP .
WE MANAGED TO BE A COUPLE OF BUCKETS SHORT , SO GUTTED ....

A great example by Steve and Alex of the amount of work that goes in to a slab pore for an extension from creating new drains to clearing existing rubble and then getting all insulation correct including stopping cold spots in cavities! Then getting levels correct for the concrete and get the dpc cut and installed before concrete pour. To only be half a barrow short is not bad and great tip with the laser level receiver on the tamper ! The cat will definitely have made his mark in the concrete Alex 😂

Love the music steve .Always put a shift in you boys .Here the Dpm has to go the internal dpc then over the cavity down 150mm then out on to the external brickwork .supposedly to stop radon gases. Different parts of the uk Different regs mad how different things are .Anyway cracking job as always keep that cat in Alex 🤣🤣🤣 great job lads and a lot a graft .👍👊👊👊🧱🧱

We never bother with the thermal strip around the internal blockwork as long as we put cavity insulation below DPC…… never allowed to use polystyrene regardless how thick.! Always PIR…. Weird how things are different around the country even though building control should be sinning off the same hymn sheet.!!! Good job though lads.!!

If you run a bit short you can push some bricks down into it in random places. Done that a few times in the past. Sometimes I think a straight joint in the brickwork makes sense then locate a downpipe over it. Nice job guys 👍🏼👍🏼

Just a quick question. Have always had to use kingspan or similar for thermal regulations and heat reflection, so much more expensive than jabolite but building inspector insists

I see cats paw prints set in concrete…nothing unusual…there’s a certain brick in a buildings wall at Brompton Barracks in Chatham, at the Royal Engineers School of Military Engineering that has a cats paw print too…the bricks were made locally in the Frindsbury Brick fields, by hand…way back in the 1800’s…one immortalised pussy cat…

The wacker plate is heavy and when being operated only wants to go in one direction, so best worked by going with it and not against it…unless you like hernias that is…😉
