We Ran StreetSpeed717's Twin Turbo C8 on the Streets and it's Insane!

We finished installing everything on the car! Now, it's time to dyno it, and then see how she handles on the street! The car sounds INCREDIBLE with the turbos to say the least! We can't believe how well everything turned out on this car. We're excited to share this feat with everyone, and hope you love it as much as we do!

Extremely understandable explanation. Seems like you've created your own Z06 or better with the twin turbos. It sounds really good. So Forged pistons would be required for reliability. What about the wrist pins, connecting rods, bearings and crankshaft, as far as needing to be replaced for reliability at the amount of horsepower that you are putting down. Also, the drive axles. OK. I will continue to monitor what you are doing to build the C8. It's a massive project, but we are enjoying watching you bring this C8, "up." This type of content is amazing. the DCT will be toast quickly. If you boost the hp you need to know the limits of the GM DCT, i haven't even heard of upgrades for the transmission has anyone else? I doubt GM will train anyone in their shops to pull them apart. Like most other manufacturers they will only sell you a new one for $20,000 or you will need to wait for specialty trans shops to fix them and aftermarket companies to make the parts to beef it up. Just ask GT-R owners we had to go through all that.

Grab America by the Flaps it’s actually one clutch pack as that refers to the whole assembly. It’s got two sets of discs, probably 5-7 in each set

i think they accounted in an additional like 200/250 hp from chevrolet, after that i think it will probably slip after a while, you can limit this by keeping it from torque cutting when running boost only at higher RPM's

Consider every 14psi of boost as a doubling of displacement over naturally aspirated, so at 5psi you're adding ~35% base power to the Corvettes ~500 at the wheels (as measured by others) which gets you very close to 667. I'd say it's a bit lower than expected but that this assumes perfect cooling of the intake air which is not the case.

@joshua dugas From what LMR said they want to keep it until all the R&D is done on the vehicle. Plus the transmission still needs to be tuned to hold all that extra power! Their end goal is get the c8 around 900hp but this can't be complete until the ECM is cracked open.

Those stock clutches should be able to more TQ, they need to keep working on the clamping pressure. Most DCT cars hold 700-750 ft lbs on stock clutches with proper tune.

To be honest the thing sounds horrible. And the fact you are using std 5 hp and not sae is funny it’s like whoa we made 659hp on std which will always make that hp number higher. Sad you would even let a car go out of the shop as you said it sounds angry not in a good way. You could hear it cutting tuning fuel and the trans acting fucked up. When you did a turbo up there I thought it was better than the rear mounted because it gets a lil more of the weight toward the middle and that may help with the c8s 60/40 weight distribution. Honestly even without tuning you were better off doing front mounted turbos to make up for some of that weight distribution issue

Absolutely love what you at LMR have done with this C8 Corvette. I’m not really fan of that bracing in between the two the turbos I would have liked to have seen more of the engine with the turbos off to the side. Not sure if it had to be designed this way but I think it could have looked different. Overall I’m very impressed!

It’s not like LMR is going to dump a broken car on Mike, if anything he’s become their poster boy. I found out about them through his channel as I’m sure you did as well. I’d love for an innovative shop to try out stuff on my car knowing they have my back to test and tune with future issues, it’s a great position for Mike and LMR to be in.

Factory pistons will hold a lot more than you made, but you need to add some ring gap. 👍 Put some Meth injection on there too😎 i would really like to see the new.Whipple 3.8 on a C8 with upgraded clutch packs of course. The instant response of the DCT and the Whipple would be a riot. I have an M6 Hellcat with race clutch and 17lbs boost from factory 2.4l blower and its a crazy fun ride. Not the quickest or fastest but about as much fun as street driving will allow

Speaking from experience. I did big upgrades to my c7: 416 stroker, supercharger, meth injection etc. 785 whp. Wished I'd waited for the Z06 version. Better trans, suspension, components etc. Better base to build off of. Be patient

I like what your doing to Mikes C8. But why are you using customer cars to design, test, and prototype? Shouldn't you guys buy your own C8 and do the same? And it doesn't look like you guys have a separate dyno / testing room just for R&D. You know where you can pull the engine and mount it on a motor stand for testing. Just seems like a lot of unnecessary risk with customer vehicles.
